Katherine Heigl Has 'Great Aspirations' of Becoming a Mom

As rumors about a potential adoption continue to swirl, Katherine Heigl says that she has "great aspirations of having a big family" with husband Josh Kelley. The 29-year-old Grey’s Anatomy actress is realistic about the work load that that would entail, however. Speaking at the Peter Alexander Flagship Boutique Grand Opening and Benefit last night, Katherine admits that she is "a little afraid of saying that out loud" because she "might have one or two [children] and call it a day," adding "I get tired easily!"

Katherine and Josh were married in December 2007.

Maybe she’d have more energy if she stopped smoking.

My sentiments exactly.

She should quit smoking before she gets pregnant. There’s no reason she should subject her unborn baby to her addiction.

Or maybe it is because she has a very demanding filming schedule.

How dare people judge her for smoking.

I work full time, have 5 children and I used to smoke. I quit after my third child. I’m tired because I work full time.

Alot of people quite smoking before they plan to get pregnant or when they find out and not all go back to the habit. Give her a break. She’s got no kids and it’s her lungs. Hopefully when the time comes she’s smart enough to do the right thing.

I’ve been reading this blog for years, so I don’t know how I can be so shocked at the comments, but once again, I am. Katherine isn’t pregnant, she is an adult, and smoking cigarettes is legal! Would it be acceptable to say that an overweight woman in a post should really lose weight before she gets pregnant so she doesn’t subject her baby to the risks related to obesity and pregnancy? I doubt it would. I know the people on this blog would be all up in arms if I wrote that. And yes, smokers do have a choice, but so do most people who fall in the obese category – not everyone can blame it on the genes. Maybe we could all try to be a little more empathetic to those people that don’t live perfectly healthy lives 365 days a year.

I’ve always found Katherine to be very likable from her interviews. I wish her lots of luck!

BTW, this article didn’t say anything about her getting pregnant. It only mentioned the swirling adoption rumors and their desire to have a family. To criticize her smoking on an assumption that could very well be false is not a very nice thing to do.

Ideally any woman should be in the best possible shape/health before she gets pregnant (ie. non-smoker, perfect weight & bmi, etc.) so that not only the child can be as healthy as possible but also so that the mother can bounce back to almost her pre-baby shape.

Still though nobody’s perfect, so its not unusual for a mother-to-be to smoke and/or be overweight. So although I personally don’t advocate smoking, Katherine can do what she likes to her own body, whatever the consequences may be.

If her habit is contributing to fertility issues, then she should definitely look in to quitting, but then again its her choice.

As far as adopting, she & Josh would probably make fine parents, so hopefully all goes well in that area as well.

It’s a little bizarre how people jump to attack women who smoke.I don’t know much about Ms.Heigl or her career but if she’s a mature and discerning woman she doesn’t need the dismissive comments about smoking and pregnancy. It is more than likely that she knows what steps to take before conception, and if she doesn’t already, information is readily available from health experts when and if she chooses to get pregnant.Where did the smoking come from anyway?her comment was on another topic.

Being a non-smoker doesn’t make us better people so spare them the self-righteousness,it does make us healthier and that should be enough to keep us happy.

I too get “tired easily” and hey I’m not a smoker…it’s probably a lack of a proper diet (and sleep) on my part….I guess I too should fix that completely though before bringing a child into the world!!!

Did I attack her for smoking? No. I suggested that she might have more energy if she stopped smoking, which is true. Smoking does so much to your body that you tire easier than non-smokers. I didn’t say that she was smoking while pregnant or anything even close to it, I simply said that she might have more energy if she stopped smoking (she admitted that she tires easily and she also admitted in another interview that she smokes, so it’s not speculation.)

I thought she quit smoking a little while ago?

I thought that it was confirmed that they started adoption procedures for a baby from Korea (Katherine’s sister is adopted from Korea), but that it’ll take a few years, so now they just have to wait.
