Fayes Vision/WENN

Although mom Holly Robinson Peete smiled for photographers at an event benefiting her HollyRod Foundation, 3 ½-year-old son Roman looked more like he was growling at them instead! The cocktail was sponsored by Cartier and Malibu Magazine at was held on Thursday evening at Topanga Plaza.

Holly, 44, and her husband Rodney Peete are also parents to twins Ryan Elizabeth and Rodney Jackson, 11, and son Robinson James, 6, as well as Roman.

I’ve seen this phenomenon! Suddenly, three or four months after turning three, smiles become growls – shows of teeth. All that time they have been able to smile on cue; now they have an idea that sometimes, it’s an act. Some sort of learning surge goes on…

I think he’s ‘growling’ because he’s Holly’s autistic son, right?

- Sara on

^ no, thats the oldest son.

He’s growling cause kids growl! He’s being playful.

We tell him to show his teeth when he is being photographed. That is his version of showing his teeth.

I think he looks adorable. And if I had papparazzi following me around all the time, I’d probably “growl” at them too! :)

I love Holly. She is a strong young woman. A fantastic wife and mother. I adore the entire Peete family. I love you too Grandmother Rummy. You raised an awesome daughter.

Kids that age always have that “forced” smile and I think he just went a bit overboard with his!

“My name is Roman, hear me ROAR!” what a darling child.

I like to correct my post from yesterday when I said Grandmother raised an awesome “son”. I meant to type daughter (referring to Holly). I don’t know if she has a son but if she does I’m sure he is pretty cool also. Sorry for the boo boo. xoxoxo

wow, cant believe Roman is 3 1/2 already. i remember when she had him. such a big guy.

Holly and Roman are so cute! Maybe he’s growling because he thinks he’s a dinosaur, that’s what my son used to do at this age.
