Mark Wahlberg Says Ella Not Impressed By Football Team

LK/Flynet

Although Mark Wahlberg is almost certainly saddened this week following the elimination of his beloved Boston Red Sox from World Series contention, his children remain blissfully unaware of the state of professional sports in his hometown. During a Friday appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Mark explained that although Ella Rae, 5, Michael, 2 ½, and new baby Brendan Joseph, 5 weeks, aren’t yet old enough to be disappointed by the famed baseball team, he’s nonetheless turned his attention to football. "I’m trying to get them into the [New England] Patriots," Mark said — but Ella remains a pessimist.

"Everytime I ask my daughter if the team is going to win, especially last year, when they were going for the undefeated season… Everytime she says, ‘They’re gonna lose daddy.  They’re gonna lose.’ I would say ‘Please don’t do that,’ because the year before she said that and they did lose."

Michael apparently isn’t ready to turn his back on the teams just yet, however. The 37-year-old actor revealed that his toddler son has a Red Sox uniform he just might sport for Halloween. "I don’t know, though… he could get egged [if he wears it] in Los Angeles," Mark joked.

Ella, Michael and Brendan are Mark’s children with fiancée Rhea Durham. Mark’s latest movie, Max Payne, is in theaters now.

Not saying its a bad thing (more just an observation), I love when celebs have movies coming out because they go on all these talk shows and we get to hear about their kiddies :)

Well he could turn them onto the Phillies. Mark practically lives here filming movies and has been to several Eagles games!! I think the Patriots and the Red Sox are heading for a drought!! LOL GO Phil’s!

Psh! After the Sox losing the Pennant by two points and the Patriots owning Monday Night Football? Dream on, Phillies fan!

That’s funny about Ella joshing her dad. She’ll get good taste in due time.

I hope Mark raises his kids to be devout Red Sox and Patriots fans. I’m a Bostonian and I love when Mark talks about anything Boston. My dad even grew up in Dorchester like he did.

I grew up in Dorchester.. seeing Mark & NKOTB driving around & doing day to day things. It was really interesting. I love it that he’s trying to get his kids into Boston sports. Always so much excitement AND disappointment!! It’s part of being a Boston sports fan! But we all LOVE it!!!
