Jada Pinkett Smith's Family is Full of Actors
Acting is a family affair for Jada Pinkett Smith, her husband Will Smith and youngest kids Jaden Christopher Syre, 10, and Willow Camille Reign, 7 ½. After Jaden heard his dad "complaining that he was having difficulty casting a boy in one of his films [The Pursuit of Happyness]," Jada shares in a new interview with PARADE that her son told Will that "I could play that role." Instead of just handing their son the part, "Will said, ‘You’d have to audition,’ so he did and got the role, and now he’s done two movies." Willow is also enjoying success in Hollywood with the sucesss of Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, and can currently be heard in her mom’s film Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, as the voice of a young Gloria the hippo. One Smith who is not interested in the acting business is Will’s son Trey, 16, from a previous marriage. He is focusing on sports and is "a football star in school," shares proud "bonus mom" Jada.
Despite their busy careers, Jada, 37, and Will, 40, make sure that family comes first, noting that "our biggest production is the kids." During the interview, Jada shared that her husband was "at home this week doing the daddy thing … he’s a great daddy." The couple focuses on making sure that their family is happy and connected — something that can be difficult when work and play are interconnected. However, Jada believes it makes them stronger, stating, "the family that directs together has to work hard to stay together."
