That’s a wonderful thought! In such a close family, why not have as much time as possible together and to know one another!

I totally understand where she is coming from. My family is very important to me. My older daughter was able to have her Great Grandmother (GeeGee) in her life for 4 years. She made a huge impact and even now, 4 years later, she still talks of her lovingly. I’m sad that my younger daughter wasn’t able to get know her GeeGee but at least she has her Grandparents that love her dearly. Family members can be taken from us at any age so I always try and make the effort to keep our relationships close.

I am only 17, but I am the youngest of 7 kids, my oldest sister is 32. My Mom is 51 now, soon to be 52. I hope to marry around 24/25, so I can have children fairly early, I don’t want my kids to miss out on my amazing Mother. My nieces and nephew are just CRAZY about ‘Mimi’. I totally understand how Rosario feels.

My mom had me when she was 27 and she died when she was only 38. I have a 2 year old son and it’s hit me quite a few times that not only did she miss so many things about me growing up,but she’s also not physically around to see my son and my nephews grow up. I’m going to make sure my son knows about his grandma eventhough he can’t actually meet her right now

I completely understand what Rosario is saying.

My mother had me when she was 17 and she died at the age of 30. I grew up with her and my grandparents. Since I recently became engaged it really hits home that my mother isn’t here and that she will never meet any children I have. It also works the same way with my grandparents. I’d love for them to be around when I have kids. She seems like she might be in a great position to begin to start her family. Good luck to her!

I think she meant that she wants them to know her before she gets too old to enjoy her grandkids and/or be the woman Rosario has always known. She may not be in the best health, we have no idea.

If she had a kid right now, her mom would be around 60 when they’re 10-14 years old. So she does have plenty of time, but you have to consider how long adoption can take. If it took her six to ten years to adopt ALL of her children, her mom would be closer to 70. I understand where she’s coming from.

Her point about her kids wanting to know their grandmother would make much more sense if Rosario’s mother hadn’t had her when she was seventeen, meaning she’s only 46 or 47 now. Other than the obvious accidents/illnesses that can happen to anyone, there’s no reason to think her kids won’t get to meet their grandmother (hers is another story). Getting to one’s 50s is not really “getting old” in the scheme of thingd.

What she says about her mother and grandmother is very sweet and makes perfect sense, if she feels ready for children and has the financial means I think quality time with grandmama is a valuable factor to start adoption plans.
