Nigeria has the highest rate of twins in the world, and Scientists think it has to do with a certain type of yam that is a staple in most Nigerian women’s diets.

lency- I know it sounds fishy, but Mia made a very good point. There very well could be one or more enviornmental factors contributing to all these twins (higher levels of hormones in food, etc.).

Also, she had a good point about twin pregnancies occuring naturally a lot more often than we may think. I read somewhere that as many as 1 in 8 pregnancies actually start out as twins.

However, most of the time, one of the twins either miscarried or, as Mia said, “eaten by the mother’s body”. This is known as “vanishing twin syndrome”.

It’s possible that, like Mia said, human women are becoming more capable of carrying twins, and thus the rate of vanishing twins is decreasing and the rate of twins born is increasing.

Some celebrities may have also used fertility drugs such as Clomid instead of IVF. I find it pretty fishy with all these twins popping up.

It doesn’t matter how she conceived her babies, I wish her the best. I do think it’s ok for some people to discuss how she may have conceived her kids. She is in the public eye, people are going to talk. Besides,given her past I am sure she is used to being talked about. People are not judging I think they are just curious. Congrats to Jenna and Tito.

Wow, that is so exciting! I wish her and Tito lots and lots of luck and that both babies continue to thrive.
As far as her announcing twins so early on, I’m sure she knows that there is a chance she’ll lose at least one baby, but she’s chosen to share the news anyway. It seems like she is just an open person. If the worst happens, she will have lots of support.

I’m kind of surprised she waiting until after the *2nd* ultrasound to announce the twins and didn’t just do it after the first! Maybe they only saw one at the first ultrasound. Anyway, I’ll be thinking of those two little babies and hoping they are doing well!

How exciting for them! However if she is 34 I’ll eat my hat…she has to be at least 37 or 38. I remember the E! story on her and her now ex-husband and how desperate they were to be parents. It is nice that the dream is coming true for Jenna.

When she announced it last month (but only 3 1/2 weeks ago) she said it was “still early” and was “being cautious”…You can find out you’re pregnant with an at home pregnancy test 10-14 days after conception…which would make you 4 weeks pregnant at that time. You can find out with a blood test even earlier. Now a days, most women who are trying to get pregnant know they’re pregnant WAY before 9 weeks. I had 2 ultrasounds by 9 weeks with all 4 of my kids because I was considered high risk – which Jenna probably is too. She could very well be 9 weeks along.

I’ve been pregnant with twins twice and lost one of them by 10 weeks both times (but had a healthy singleton both times)….and we saw 2 heartbeats. The only thing that worries me is that if she IS only 9 weeks that she’s announceing it too early. But I guess since she had IVF there’s a better chance of knowing that its a good strong viable pregnancy through testing? Not sure…

It’s a happy thing when people are expecting and are overjoyed about it. But good luck maintaining a loving relationship with your children when they are old enough to understand what you used to do for a living! I was a severely abused little girl, and through various ways, my son found out and was utterly mortified and heartbroken. A strained relationship with our neighbors at the time contributed to his harassment at school about my sad past (which was no fault of mine) and other mistakes I personally had made.
