Finally! Diaper Bags With No Black Holes
|So Young Bag in Chocolate Brown with Brown Trim|
Once in a while, you find a diaper bag made by someone who just ‘gets’ it. So Young Mother — headquartered in Canada — gets it. They really, really do. Thoughtful details abound in their new diaper bag, from the shallow bottom with contrasting interior (eliminating what So Young Mother calls the ‘black hole effect’) to the inclusion of a full-fledged cooler bag for those times you need to bring more than just one bottle, it’s a diaper bag designed with you in mind.
At the onset, I should say I’m wasn’t completely sold on the micro-suede fabric used on the exterior because it’s just not a texture I’m used to seeing employed on a diaper bag. But after being caught out in a rain storm, I can vouch that the bag is indeed water-resistant as-advertised. And the color choices (chocolate brown with blue trim or cherry red with chocolate trim) are absolutely fantastic for fall.
The bag is easy to carry as either a messenger bag or shoulder-style tote, and at 12x16x5" it’s on the verge of being able to double as a handbag. Even though the bottom is shallow there is still plenty of storage space and pockets to stow whatever you need, along with some ingenious additions like a flap to secure your baby carrier, yoga mat, or a blanket, along with a change pad that is both machine washable and dryable. As a bonus, it doubles nicely as a work bag and will fit most laptops!
