September is Baby Safety Month

09/01/2008 at 05:00 PM ET

For the past 25 years, the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association has educated parents about various children’s safety issues through its annual Baby Safety Month, held each September. This year, the group is highlighting the safe selection and use of child restraint seats, helping adults to choose the children’s car seat that best suits their needs.

As part of Baby Safety Month, the association will hold events in correlation with National Seat Check Saturday on September 20th, followed by National Child Passenger Safety Week September 21st-27th, at various locations throughout the U.S. The events serve as reminders to parents and those who care foryoung children to use a child safety seat in the rear of theirvehicles, and to restrain children properly in accordance with size, weight and age.

To locate an National Seat Check Saturday inspection station near you, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Child Safety Seat Inspection Station Locator. You can also visit the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association for additional information on Baby Safety Month and other important initiatives.
