Dr. Dre's Son André Young Jr. Passes Away
André Romelle Young Jr., the 20-year-old son of record producer/rapper Dr. Dre, 43, passed away on Saturday, August 23rd at his Woodland Hills, Calif. home. André had been out Friday evening with friends and returned home at approximately 5:30 a.m. His mother went to check on him at 10:24 a.m., where she found him unresponsive and proceeded to call for paramedics. André was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy has been performed, but the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office is waiting on the results of toxicology reports before a cause of death can be determined. Foul play is not suspected. When contacted for a comment, Dr. Dre’s publicist released the following statement:
Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son André Young Jr. Please respect his family’s grief and privacy at this time.
Dr. Dre has four other children: sons Curtis, 26, Marcel, 17, and Truth, 11, as well as daughter Truly, 7.
