Pregnant Billie Piper Feels Like a Sweating Sea Cow

When a woman becomes pregnant, she knows she’ll gain weight, but not all of them have the same problem as actress Billie Piper. The 25-year-old, who is expecting her first child this October with husband Laurence Fox, portrays a high-class hooker on the show Secret Diary Of A Call Girl and had to film scenes while trying to deal with her growing baby bump. In her role, Billie has to play a "sexually liberated, empowered young prostitute" but says she "unfortunately felt like a sweating sea cow" during filming.

Billie, who shares that she’s had no cravings "other than wanting food constantly," which causes problems because of the "desire to just sit on my bum and stuff my face." However, she knows that’s "not conducive to work." Neither was her constant thirst and need for the bathroom, which was "really unhelpful when working to such a tight schedule." Luckily for Billie, the third series of the show will not begin filming until she has given birth this fall.

Secret Diary Of A Call Girl is currently airing on Showtime On Demand.

I love her, love the show. I didn’t know she was pregnant.

I’ve been waiting like 2-3 weeks for the next episode to come on and still nothing. I wonder if it’s on a break?…hmm Ill have to go check!

Anyway, CONGRATS to her and she’s beautiful!

Isn’t constant thirst a sign of diabetes? Hopefully she has been checked for it.

I too love her show and didn’t realize she was pregnant. They certainly covered it well!

I think they started with a shortened season – just 8 episodes. The on-demand description of that last episode said it was the season finale. Not sure when they will start up again with season 2.

Just to clear up a couple of things, The Secret Diary Of A Call Girl was originally made for itv2 here in the UK. 8 episodes is not a shortened ‘season’, it is a series, as is usual here (in fact, 6 episodes is more common).

Also, she wasn’t pregnant when it was filmed. It was shown over here last year. They are currently filming the new series though.

She will always be Rose Tyler to me. I cry like a baby every time I see the finale to Series 2.

Congrats to them.

Ivey,
yes, constant thirst, as well as frequent urination, can be a sign of diabetes. It’s also common in pregnancy, and if she’s “sweating like a sea cow”, perhaps she’s just getting dehydrated and needs to replenish those fluids lost, so who knows . . .

Rachel – Jane – thanks for all the ‘clarifications’.

I was just trying to communicate to the first poster that the first season (or series as you call it) is over. The show just came to the US a couple months ago, it has been playing on Showtime. For us, 8 episodes is a short series, or season or whatever you want to call it. Hence why she was wondering why there haven’t been any new episodes the last couple of weeks. Here most shows have 22 episodes per season, though new shows often times start smaller. FYI

Madison & Rachel-Jane, thanks for the clarification!!! I appreciate it.

Yeah.. I knew Billie was preggers…just didn’t know the due date!

Bit of Trivia: Her husband’s related to the Queen!! His uncle, Daniel Chatto, is married to Princess Margaret’s (the Queen’s late sister) daughter, Lady Sarah Chatto (she’s 16th in line for the throne). I find that both kewl and amusing since the queen’s such a major Dr. Who fan. *L*

UK shows are so short, it’s depressing. I love her as Rose Tyler, but she will always be the Because We Want Too girl to me :D

- stephanie on

hahahha. Very happy for her, wishing her a safe delivery.

She was great in the season’s end of Dr Who. The whole story line was fantastic. Lose ends tied up

Love Billie, love her in Dr. Who!

rotfl – “Sweating like a Sea Cow” That’s you best headline ever!!!

- Lola on

“Honey to the bee…”

Congrats to Billie!!! I, too, cried like a baby at the Dr. Who finale. It was so well done!!! Hope she has a wonderful pregnancy!
