Stella McDermott's Bright Pink Nursery!

Tori_spelling_1

Inspired by "vintage boudoir Parisian girliechic," Tori Spelling took her love of pink to the next level while designing 9-week-old daughter Stella Doreen‘s nursery. A homeowner for the first time, Tori, 35, dove into decorating exactly as she would like, and the result is bright! No worries though — Stella "loves the bright pink in her room. They say bright colors calm babies." And Stella could use a little calming! Tori admits that her second child is a complete 180 from her first, 17-month-old Liam Aaron. She explains,

BeforeStella, I just knew from Liam and figured all babies are perfect angelsand never cry. While Stella is an angel, she’s very vocal. When shewants to eat, she wants to eat now. And she’ll scream!

Stella’s nursery features the sophisticated Harper Collection of bedding and accessories from baby line Serena & Lily. Tori specifically requested the set, and uses the brightly-colored crib sheets, bumper, diaper changing pad and cover, and bed skirt.

For more from the interview, check out this week’s issue of Life & Style. Get to know Tori and husband Dean McDermott on their reality show, Home Sweet Hollywood, airing Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on Oxygen.

Stella’s room is stunning! What a precious family!

- mikki on

Even though it is alot of pink, I love that nursery! I love that rocking chair! :)

- Elyse on

her room is so cute! i love how shes got like this little smile on her face in the first picture

- Kelly on

I am SO impressed with Tori Spelling. Daddy’s little Girl that was given EVERYTHING she wanted, taken away when Daddy died, and able to land on her feet with the aftermath. Not only did she land on her feet, she did it with style and grace. I give her so much credit for being so down to earth compared to her upbringing. BRAVO Tori and Dean. GOD BLESS!

- Bubbles on

So beautiful, I LOVE the all the pink in the nursery. It’s very girlie and pretty!

I love this family, Dean seems like a great father and Tori looks like a really great mom. Their children are gorgeous!

- Stéph on

Love the nursery!!!

Just wondering..why does the magazine cover only have girls for the “cutest kids”?? There are cute boys too!! (Kingston!) …just a thought! ;)

- laura on

Awww, sweet! Their kids are SO cute. Tori seems like she will be a fun mom.

- Angi on

I’ve watched their show a few times and will admit that all the preconceived notions I had about them flew right out the window – I was really surprised! They are quite down to earth – they work hard on both their professional and personal lives and seem to have a wonderful marriage and very happy family life to show for it.

Oh, and as for this post – love the wallpaper!

- madison on

Laura, I was thinking the same thing….what about the boys???

That nursery is REALLY PINK!!!! LOL Beautiful but not my style at all.

- Nina on

I’m not usually a fan of all-pink nurseries, but I love this one and think it’s so pretty.

- Kate on

I love Stella’s room. Its just my style! And I have to agree about perceived notions about this couple. As soon as I watched their show last season I fell in love with the two of them. They are a wonderful family.

- tink1217 on

I so want her designing my nursery rooms when I have kids. The room is so, so, SO cute! I love pink and it’s something I know I would design if I was having a little girl.

- Stephany on

That’s an interesting cover, “Hollywood cutest babies”?????

The nursery is burning my retinas.

- Jessica on

I’m impressed with her as well. Her daddy would have been so proud of the family that she has created. And her mom must be as well.

- BECKYPEABODY on

Stella is getting soooo cute now that she is filling out more. I don’t really like the print on the nursery wall but everything else is gorgeous!

- Sheila on

Yeah, I’m not into Pepto-Bismol chic. There’s nothing soothing about that shade of pink, except the idea that a more palatable shade would only take a couple coats of new paint. :) That said, Stella is a cutie.

- Erica on

I love this family, but I have to wonder, do they ever get any privacy!?!?
Between the reality shows and photo shoots… I don’t know whether to feel bad for them what!

- karen on

I woud be screaming too if that was my nursery. Calm colors calm babies!!!

- Lisa on

She is a 1st time homeowner now? @ age 35 Really? That is very very surprising.

- i think on

The nursery is not really my style, but I too like bright colours for baby’s rooms, it stimulates them and keeps them active. Our child’s room was painted blue and red.

- eva on

Stella is a little cutie. Even though I’m not a fan of pink myself, that cheeky pink is gorgeous.

- Silvermouse on

i love the nursery !
is it me or is stella’s hair getting lighter?

- lola on

On that first picture she has Robin Antin’s smile lol !!!! What a great family

- Molly on

How many dangerous things do they have in that crib?? I hope they put those blanks and pillows in there just for the pictures

- a on

Can someone please help me find the pictures of the ladies in dresses on the wall of the nursery? Thanks!!

- Julie on

interesting to read the comments- I actually find her to be a little too much- i dont watch the show for that ( and a few other reasons) but I can appreciate her loving the pink! AFter two boys I am too ( although not quite as much as her..)
LOL

- ekaterina on

LMAO, Erica, I was thinking the same thing. It looks too much like Pepto-Bismol exploded in that room.

I’m not knocking the style, it is a nice layout for Stella. But I just can’t stand that much pink, or that bright of a pink. I’d rather it be a little more subdued, mixed with other colors. I would’ve put a different color on the wall, period.

But they look so sweet with her, especially Dean in that second shot. I love how he’s looking at her and the little smile she seems to give him.

And it’s not just you, Molly, her hair looks to be brown to me.

- FC on

That’s so cute, Stella already looks a lot like Liam to me, especially in the first pic.

- Laura on

I don’t really like it – all-pink nurseries are cute but that shade seems like it was picked more with mom in mind than with baby.

- Nicole on

stella’s very vocal-just like mommy!

- ang on

Oh my Stella is so cute and I love the room it is so cute just like their little girl. Also all three have a big smile in the first pic really great to see them so happy. They need some pics with Liam and Stella together.

- Kaitlynn on

I have a real aversion to blue themes for boys and pink themes for girls, so I really really don’t like the room, but that baby is just so precious. We can’t see Stella’s face very well, but she SEEMS to have Dean’s features so far from the angle she is shown. I love love love love love this family and always have.

- phoebe on

I really don’t know anything about Tori and Dean, but Liam is adorable! I bet Stella will be too as she continues to grow.

But, I really need to comment on that “Cutest Kids” cover, I really love me some Violet Affleck cuteness, but that photo is extremely unflattering and I REALLY hate to say that about her or any baby on that matter.

- C on

I love the style of the nursery but that pink is way to loud for my taste. I would probably like it better if it was a softer pink (not that our opinions really matter, after all it’s Stella nursery – so as long as Tori and Dean like it that’s all that matters LOL). Now as far as Stella, I’m sorry but honestly, how cute is she! And she has gotten so big so quickly – maybe because I watched her coming home last night hehe.
As far as the magazine cover on Hollywood’s cutest kids there is a boy on the cover, Max. But I do understand what the rest of you mean it would have been nice if they do one of the boys next week (Kingston, Sean Preston and/or Jayden James, Maddox and/or Pax, Liam – just to name a few).

- Bancie1031 on

I like the nursery, although I think it would look better with another color added as an accent. Some green, maybe.

However, I really wish celebrities would stop with the staged photos where the crib is filled with unsafe pillows and blankets. (I’m assuming that photo of Stella in the crib with the pillows and such was staged.) People may see them–especially this one where Stella is actually in the crib–and think it’s OK, when it’s very not OK.

- Pencils on

I was watching their show last night and was wondering if they live in a normal neighborhood. Their house is beautiful but a normal size house especially for a celeb. It just shocked me that they would live in a normal neighborhood, if they do. I cried when Tori arranged for Jack to surprise Dean… he really does seem to miss him. I usually dont like pink nursery but that one is beautiful.

steph

- steph on

I think its perfection! I love those fancy lady prints on the walls. Anyone recognize them? My monkey has a parisian thing going on.. I could use those prints!

- Mumby on

All the bright pink is a bit much for me personally, but it sure looks like Tori had a wonderful time decorating it for her daughter! The pictures are very sweet, especially how Stella looks to be smiling in the first one and then staring right at daddy in the second.

As for bright colors stimulating babies, I recently saw a show dedicated to moms where they had someone to give information on decorating nurseries and they said that yes bright colors stimulate babies, but sometimes TOO much, i.e. when they should be sleeping. So they said to opt for a softer shade than ultra bright, but one that is still distinguishable from white. But don’t quote me on that! My memory is a little foggy on all that, but I remember it standing out to me since I had thought otherwise too. If anyone has some more concrete information either way, I’d love to hear it!

- Gina on

I had a blanket and a pillow in my daughter’s crib from the day she came home (my whole family does it) so I don’t see what the big deal is ……. yes it can be dangerous but as long as you don’t have them where your baby can get them over their face or tangled around their neck they can be safe. Don’t you cover up with a blanket at night? I know I do because I get cold, so if I get cold at night I knew/know that my baby must also. Let me go ahead and say this isn’t for everyone but it worked for my family and this is just my opinion. And I’m truly not trying to start an argument by any means.

- Bancie1031 on

Such a cute baby, I wonder what her length is, she looks so long in the rocking chair picture.

- lisa on

I am not really a fan of theirs but I was bored the other night and caught their finale of their show and it actually wasn’t that bad. And wow Stella is a spitting image of her daddy and Liam looks exactly like Tori’s brother Randy!!!!!

BTW does anyone know why his eldest son’s face isn’t shown on the show? Is that a legal issue between him and his ex that Jack can be a part of the show just now allowed to have his face shown? Which is fine I was just curious.

- JM on

Bancie, for us it was just a risk we chose not to take. As far as blankets, they make “wearable blanket” sleepsack things now, and that’s what we used when our boys weren’t tightly swaddled anymore.

The nursery is a LITTLE bright for me, but I do like the design and especially the rocker and ottoman.

- Erica on

Not my style but very Tori. That being said – I hate the cover of that magazine!! Where’s Kingston? Zahara? Johan? I’m sure they cover all their bases inside but the cover could have actually shown some of the cutest kids, rather than the ones who are the most popular. Granted, everyone has an opinion on that and they are in it to make money, but I’m still allowed to be annoyed by it :)

- brannon on

Love the room theme. The pink is hot! If you’re going to have a muted pink, why bother? lol. Go bold! :)

- m-dot on

The answer to why those kids are one the cover and not others? They’re the ones who make the most MONEY for the magazine! All 4 of them win the popularity contest.

- SH on

I agree with Bubbles there…I think the reason that I do like her is that she did land on her feet and worked hard and pushed to get what she has great job. I do hope that things stay cool between her and Dean, because he is so good for here. They are a cute family! I love girlie french chic…there are some elements I dont like. TOO much pink for me.

- aurora mia on

I agree. I was never a fan of 90210 or Tori Spelling, but she’s done well for herself. She has matured into a wonderful woman and exceptional mother. She seems to adore her two children and her husband Dean seems to really be dedicated to her and their children. I really like her and on a sidenote, am shocked at how much Tori’s kids look like their father! I don’t see any resemblance to the Spellings…those kids are TOTAL McDermotts!

- Lily on

JM, I was wondering the same thing! I was all excited to see Dean’s reaction, on the show, when he saw Jack for the first time that day and I was disappointed that they didn’t show it. All though, I do totally understand if it’s a legal issue and his mother would prefer to keep his face off the show.

I absolutely love that nursery. I probably wouldn’t do something like that for my little girl, only because when I was younger I HATED pink, so I’d want to do something neutral or something like a Tuscany theme, but it’s so adorable! As for the color being too bright, I’m sure that Stella is used to it since it’s been like that since she was born. Babies adapt too.

- Cait on

Aw so cute! Yeah Tori made her daughter Stella’s nursery bedroom really pink, but it’ll be something that’ll serve her well as an adorible little girl’s bedroom, until they decide to re-decorate (or they get another house.)

As far as the Life & Style cover, lol, yeah I can see they are a bit sexist in favor of the girls, and its too bad the only boy on the cover is Trista & Ryan’s son Max, but then again L&S is a tabloid so I guess you take their covers with a grain of salt.

Anyway, is it just me, or based on these pics does Suri somehow appear closer to Violet Affleck’s age than Shiloh’s even though she’s only a month older than Shiloh? Hmmm?

Still though Matilda Ledger is the oldest of the four, and unless this is an older photo, she seems not much older than Shiloh.

- Autumn on

what’s the problem with the magazine cover? i mean, they can’t put 20 children! they choose 4 beautiful girls, for me they are really the cutest celebrity kids! so imo is a good choice :) (Matilda being my favourite!) well, maybe they can add Isabella Damon ;)

- sil on

I LOVE the nursery and have grown to love Dean and Tori as well! They have grown into such a beautiful family and their first baby girl certainly has the perfectly pink nursery (I LOVE it!!)

The magazine cover is what bothers me! It’s not about the children that they chose on the cover but about how photoshopped those photographs are! How disgusting that they feel the need to complete retouch every face of those beautiful children! Shiloh barely looks like herself!

- Shelby on

They are really cute pics but I wish they would have had one close up of Stella. I still don’t know what she really looks like!

- Sheena on

You know, there is such thing as too much pink and this is it. That’s not relaxing at all.

She’s a cutie, though, baby Stella!

- Dominique on

Kudos to Life and Style for finding a photo of Violet Affleck standing on her own. I honestly have never seen her photographed when Jen or Ben are not carrying her.

- Susan on

Sil, no they can’t put 20 kids on the cover. But how about a little diversity? All those kids are fair skinned and have blond hair (except brown-haired Suri). No cute Hollywood kiddo out there with different features? That says a lot about american society’s beauty perception.

- lilith on

I agree Shelby, why do magazines feel the need to photoshop little kids even when the pictures are candid. Shiloh especially, there is nothing wrong with her but almost all magazines photoshop her to almost unrecognisable levels. The cover is beautiful though. Those little girls are gorgeous, Suri and violet especially.

- amy on

for people who wanted to see stella’s face, there are a lot of pictures at oxygen.

- Annemarie on

Bancie–not trying to argue either, but the advice these days is that there should be nothing in the baby’s crib other than a tight-fitting sheet until he or she is quite a bit older than Stella. Pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals are a suffocation and SIDS risk. Not only is it possible for a child to roll over at a surprisingly young age and then become trapped against soft bedding, there is also the issue of rebreathing. SIDS can be caused by babies rebreathing their own carbon-dioxide filled air when there isn’t enough air circulation in the crib, which can be caused by bumpers, soft bedding, etc. To me, it’s just not worth the risk. An infant doesn’t need a cute pillow or blanket, not in these days of wearable blankets and sleep sacks.

- Pencils on

For those interested in the prints….
they are Barbie Fashion Model prints by Robert Best, as in Babrbie doll… Z Gallerie has one, angelicdreamz.com has a few…just search using robert best barbie fashion model vintage print and boom!!!
and I agree it need some accents color….

- Alicia on

@ lilith:
well, i’m not american, so i don’t know how american society’s beauty perception is….i just see 4 beautiful little girls, and i didn’t see any problem in that magazine cover…but that’s just my opinion, everybody has a different point of view. I’m peruvian (living in Italy) not blond at all, my daughter isn’t blond either, and I think she is the most beautiful girl in the world :)

- sil on

I love the walls, but I’m not a fan of the rest of the nursery. A little over down if you ask me, but everyone has different styles. I think Stella is adorable though.

- Cali on

love tori and the pink! does anyone know who makes tori’s dress she is weraing?

- lisa on

Does anyone have any info about the chair & ottoman, especially the name of the fabric? Very pretty & would be able to be used later in a teen’s room. Thanks!

- M'Lin on

Erica and Pencils, they didn’t make “wearable blankets” when my daughter was born, she’s going to be 8 next month. She was born 5 weeks early and she was 8 days old coming home from the hospital and had trouble keeping her body temperature up (to this day her normal temp is 97.6) She was always a sickly child and had to be kept warm (to this day). Like I said it worked for us and is not for everyone. I understand about SIDS and the dangers of it, and for this reason I do agree with keeping stuffed animals/bumpers out of the bed and all the fancy pillows (which is nice during the day but at night when baby sleeps must be removed – IMO). Though I honestly think the pretty pillow was placed there (in the first picture of Stella in her crib) for photo purposes only – though I honestly don’t know that for a fact just a guess on my part. I guess this is just a touchy subject and should probably be avoided but I was just saying what worked for us.
Stella is adorable. There is a lot of good pictures of her on there, for some reason I had not even thought of going there to look for pictures of her. I think Liam resembles Dean more and Stella resembles Tori more. Liam has changed so since he was born I wonder what Stella will look like in a couple of months or even next year.

- Bancie1031 on

I agree with “Bubbles” on August 13, 2008. Tori had it all as a child then it was all takn away when daddy died. She was such a spoiled child and to see her now. Wow! She is a beautiful women and a beautiful mother. I am so very proud of the person that she has become.Tori’s mother, Candy should be very proud of her daughter. I know Tori’s father, Aron is smiling down on her from heaven. Way to go Tori! Keep up the great work.

- Sheri on

I love the pink. I added more accent colors in my daughters nursery. Her walls were similiar to that color, though.

As for the ‘staging’ pictures…maybe it IS just for show. You know, everyone doesn’t use their nursery. We didn’t. We did her ‘room’ mainly just to go through the design part of it. I had mosquito netting over the crib. It looked beautiful. She never used it. Our bedroom was big enough for a bassinet. If someone is reading a magazine and goes off what a celebrity does and deems it as ‘safe’ without checking, well, they have more issues than a pillow in a crib!

- Ashley on

Stella is growing so fast….Gorgeous nursery..I love this family

- jen on

I don’t know if anyone saw the adorable flower headband baby Stella was wearing on the most recent episode of Tori and Dean on Oxygen but I found that it is from KensieClaireBoutique.com! I was so excited! It was so cute. The one baby Stella was wearing was the Crochet Headband in Pearl Pink from KensieClaireBoutique.com. Totally darling!

my goodness thats a beautiful nursery, but anyway, my little cousin (Alexa Bree) Was just born and her nursery is gorgeous as well.
