Jennie Finch's Son Loves Her to the Moon and Back

Jennie_finch Softball player Jennie Finch is happy to be competing at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China, but the downside is that son Ace Shane, 2, is home in the United States. To help with being away from her son, Jennie talks to him on the phone as much as she can, even if they just count numbers or talk "about giraffes or elephants or something like that." However, sometimes Ace says something that makes his mom’s heart melt — the former Celebrity Apprentice contestant recalls "he told me he loves me to the moon and back the other night."

This is the last Olympics that Jennie, 27, will be participating in, as softball will no longer be included as an Olympic sport after this year. Knowing that, she’s trying to have a great time while winning a gold medal and having a little boy at home cheering for her helps!

[My family said] that he saw me on TV the other night at Opening Ceremonies and he shouted, ‘Momma’ and was jumping off the couches, so, that kind of made it all better, knowing that he’s hopefully a proud two-year-old back home.

Jennie and her husband, Minnesota Twins pitcher Casey Daigle, 27, have been married since January 15, 2005.

HOW SWEET!!!!!!!! I think I’d cry if my son ever said that to me

Hopefully little Ace will follow in his athletic parents’ footsteps, and 20 years from now, we’ll be watching him pitch. If he’s a lefty, all the better!

Best of luck in Beijing to Jenny and the U.S. women’s softball team!

Goodness, I don’t know how she didn’t just cry or feel her heart swell after he said that to her, or each time he says it to her. That’s so sweet.

I’d be rushing home by that time. But, seriously, I’d just use that as motivation to make him proud at the Olympics. :)

It is so easy for me to relate to how jennie felt when she said it made her heart melt when her son said he loved her to the moon and back because,My Wife just wrote a Children’s book “To The Moon and Back ” and my daughter said that to me one time when I was out of working out of town.To the Moon and Back is the story of the constant and unwavering love between a mother and her child. http://www.RMHULL.WEBS.COM .
