giggle Guide to Baby Gear: The Smart Shopping Companion for New Parents

Giggleguidetobabygearbyaliwing

Having a new baby can be extremely overwhelming, but the new giggle Guide to Baby Gear: The Smart Shopping Companion for New Parents ($19.95) is here to reduce the stress of shopping for all of the stuff you need. This is a must-have book for anyone daunted by all of the work involved before baby arrives (and the "stuff" stuff after the baby’s here). Buy this book before you buy anything else or register for gifts.

giggle‘s founder and CEO Ali Wing is like your mother, best friend, mom’s group, Wikipedia, and Consumer Reports rolled up into one being. Since she opened the first giggle baby store in San Francisco, Ali and her wonderfully trained and super knowledgable staff have been helping customers figure out what to buy for their expanding families. Now they have a book for those who can’t get to a giggle store for their personal shopping service. Instead of telling you what to buy, this tome tells you how to make the perfect choice in every category. Their checklists tell you what you’ll need and when and then they tell you how to make your decision based on what’s available and what features you need based on your circumstances.

For example, if you live in the suburbs, stroller weight might not matter as much to someone who lives in a fifth story apartment with no elevator so even if your best friend loves her Bugaboo, it might not make sense for you. I loved the Baby Bargains book, but products are constantly changing so it was out of date as soon as it’s published. As the old saying goes, giggle is not giving you the fish, they’re handing you the fishing pole and teaching you how to fish.

Available exclusively at giggle.com until Fall 2008 when it hits bookstores. Four new stores are joining their roster in Fall 2008 in Long Island, NY, Chevy Chase, MD, Pasadena, CA, and Corte Madera, CA.
