Right after my identical twin sons arrived, we were gifted these tags as a means of identifying our sons. We no longer need them ourselves, but these come in handy when we have a babysitter or leave the babies with family who may have a harder time telling the boys apart since they have almost no identifying features!

We LOVE Mabel’s Labels. They come in handy for everything when your little one is in daycare or school! For the mom’s who have kids who won’t keep the bracelets on….we just ordered Safety Tats (temporary tattoos with all your info on it) and love them. My daughter can’t take it off and it gives us peace of mind!

Another great company is Stuck on You – they have Stick With Me wristbands where you write the childs name and phone number, therfore you can use them for more than 1 child at a time. They loop around like a bracelet, which the kids love, or you can also loop them onto a belt loop and they stay on great.

Mabel’s Labels also makes the sticky labels for the inside of shirts…If you think your kids might rip the wristbands off, you can try the sticky lables and put them on the outside instead of the inside! I just looked at their website (love it!!) and I am also about to order some myself, though we will ONLY put our families last name and our cell phone numbers on the wristbands for safety reasons.

Delighted these are a hit! I’m one of the co-founders of Mabel’s Labels and the eldest of my five kiddos has autism, which is what inspired the product and partnership with Autism Speaks. Serena is right…some kids with autism have such strong sensory issues that they can not tolerate a wristband, a tag on a shirt, the feel of sand on their feet, etc. etc. We hope that this product is able to help out where it can. My daughter, when she was younger, had an auditory processing disorder and would wander away and get lost. Whenever we went to the mall or any where there was a large crowd, I used to pin a small plastic bag to her back. Inside I had a piece of paper with her name and my cell phone number is case she got lost. I also used to tie a helium balloon to her belt loop in the back of her pants so I could spot her in a crowd.

I have heard of something similar but they are fake tats but they do not include the childs name for safety issues. They are called safetytats

I have two autistic sons and neither of them would keep something like this one. At the hospital, they kept ripping the ID bands off and those things are really thick. Still if your child will use them, they could be a real lifesaver.
