I'm not surprised most women stop breastfeeding by 6 months, a lot of women are not stay at home moms nowadays and have to go back to working if not a full time job than at least a parttime nowadays. Combine that with working full time, and maybe having 2-3 kids to come home to deal with it. If your a stay at home mom or work from home, it's easier to breastfeed longer though. Brooke burke said recently after her 4th child she stopped after 2 months because it took a lot of time and she had a lot of other kids to deal with, plus work, etc.

Yes, planned weddings and births on 8/8/08 had nothing to do with the Olympics, it's the number. The opening ceremonies were planned for that date because 8 is a lucky number in Chinese culture.

Oh also interesting about the "Olympic babies." Everything I had heard previously to that said the reason was because of the date, nothing to do with the Olympics. 8 is a lucky # for the Chinese. I didn't see it as anything diff. from all the people in the US who wanted to get married on 07/07/07.

As for the breastfeeding, my guess is that that's because those mothers had money to buy pumps and worked the type of jobs where they could take maternity leave and be able to pump at work. Women working minimum wage job(s) often don't have those luxuries (although WIC is now offering hand pumps in a newish program).

As far as the pregnant comments article, people say the worst things! I haven't gotten tooo horrible of comments yet. When I told my mom was pregnant, she suggested I go on a diet! I'm not overweight, btw. And then when I was 10 weeks pregnant my MIL tried to convince me to buy elastic waist banded pants. She even got her SIL to get in on it. "You can't still be fitting your same clothes!" they said. Well, I was. And a month later, I still am.

I have a friend who is a few weeks from giving birth and she just did a whole blog entry devoted to the crazy things people said to her in ONE night. I think my favorite was "since you haven't had the baby and aren't working, what do you do all day? Are you just that lazy?"
