That “what not to name your child” link is lame… those are urban legends. Everyone says they know someone who named their kid “orangello” or “female” or “abcd”…etc etc
Maybe next they’ll write about the couple who bought a small dog from mexico only to discover it was a rat, or the escaped killer with a hook for a hand… lol.

I’m upset about the possible cancellation of Mister Rogers! I write the Ugga Mugga parenting blog (www.uggamugga.com) which was named from Daniel Tiger’s affectionate nose rubbing while saying “ugga mugga” to those he cared about. He was my son’s favorite character and we’ve uggamuggaed for quite some time…it’d be a shame for children to miss out on it!

Lulu I *wish* they were all urban legends, haha. Many of my friends and family are in education and they definitely have an Ebay, Female, and Sh*thead in their classes.

I’m so sad to hear about Mr. Rogers being taken off the air! I grew up watching him and Mr. Dress-up (which was taken off the air here in Canada last year). It’s definitely the end of an era.

Those baby names are really out there! I really hope they’re urban legends because what parent in their right mind would name their child Abcde or Lemonjello?? Do they not have any family who talks them down from this?!

Please go to Snopes.com and read this article: http://snopes.com/racial/language/names.asp. It thoroughly debunks all those racially charged urban legend names, including Female, Orange Jello, and Lemon Jello. The “name” Sh*thead would also fall under this urban legend, although it’s not specifically stated in the article.

I WISH I was able to cut back on school supplies! My twins are only going into kindergarten and the parents are supplying everything. The schools are so bad out here they have no money for stuff. People online are bragging that their kids only need a few folders and back pack, my kids have a 15 item list each, not including the back pack and lunch bag and pencil box. :(

Miranda, while that article might be full of urban legends, the names are not necessarily. I was serious about those names I mentioned earlier. And actually, I’ve heard sh*thead a couple of times, once when I was waiting with my husband in the ER. A woman by that name was called up to see the triage nurse. It’s pronounced shi thyy add.

Mom Said It

"It helps that other moms had said that once they had their babies, they forgot they were ever pregnant. So once my focus became the baby and not the pregnancy, it was a very easy decision."
