R&B Singer Monica Offers Peek At Life As Mom

Atlanta-area readers with access to Peachtree-TV may have caught The Single: Monica Tuesday evening; Monica, the 27-year-old R&B singer, recently shot the hour-long reality show to give fans a peek at her everyday life as mom to sons Rodney III, 3, and Romelo Montez, 7 months on Friday.  It was important to Monica that the show be as "real" as reality television can be, telling the Atlanta Journal Constitution, "I’m walking around the house in a scarf because we’d been cooking and cleaning and getting the kids ready all day — and that’s how folk really look." She adds,

That’s the most special part [of the show], to me. The parts with my kids.

There was a time, Monica says, that she and fiancé Rodney Hill would have been hesitant to let cameras into their home, but that time has passed. "We’ve always been private about certain things," she says, "But after two children, there’s really no need for that."

Her kids are gorgeous with pretty eyes. I love her because she is so real. I wish we could see her show where i am b/c i would definetly watch. And i believe her about keeping it real b/c there’s been a # of reality shows where the wife and girlfriend would wake up all done and makeup…like really!!!

I know Monica has these beautiful sons but doesn’t she have a daughter too? Let me explain… Years ago I heard Monica had a boyfriend with a daughter, he had sole custody. Before he died (complications because of a car-accident) Monica promised she’d take care of her and adopt her if she could…

Does anyone know how this ended?

Sanne,

Monica had a boyfriend that committed suicide. Following his death, I believe she did spend time a lot of time with the daughter and said she would make sure she is taken care of, but I don’t think she ever adopted her. I have since heard that the daughter lives with her biological mother, but I do not know how much involvement Monica has with her now.

I saw the show last night..she is so humble and I am going to support her all the way!! I know it’s got to be hard to be in the music business all these years and have everyone try to change who you are. Her sons are too cute, esp Lil Rock when he cried because he wanted to spend time with Monica. Also, when she rode the sidewalk to get to Rock’s concert..LOL I will be tuning in!
