Celebrity Chef Aldo Zilli and Wife Welcome Twiggy

Aldo_zilli

Celebrity chef Aldo Zilli and his wife Nikki, 32, welcomed their second child, daughter Twiggy, sometime last week. Aldo explained the unusual name choice, sharing that the famous British model Twiggy has always been a "style icon" and wants his baby girl to be as beautiful as she is. According to Aldo, the model "looks amazing as a grandmother" and he is hopeful that his "daughter looks as good at 30 as Twiggy does today!"

Twiggy joins big brother Rocco, 2.

Aldo and Nikki announced they were expecting with a magazine spread, revealing they had not planned the pregnancy, but that "it was amazing because it was wanted."

I’m all for unique names. The only thing I worry about for little Twiggy with this name choice is that she won’t be. Twiggy that is. If she is a bigger girl named Twiggy, that will be difficult for her later in life!

Congrats on the new addition, interesting name choice….

i wonder if he knows twiggy’s real name isn’t twiggy… lol…

- fay on

I thought the model Twiggy was just a nickname for her stature…not a real name…?

- MB on

tammy – that is my concern too!!! i actually love the name twiggy (and used it for my very thin cat) – but now this little girl is going to have to watch what she eats from day one!

Oh Jeez…>Twiggy Zilli, eh?? I think some people people are getting nicknames confused with names. Yikes. But, well, congratulations on on your beautiful addition :)

- aurora mia on

Wow. Way to go, Aldo, for putting pressure on your daughter to be ultra thing and beautiful.

- Olivia on

Lol, fay. I was just going to post the exact same thing. If he admires the woman so much, perhaps he should have really named his daughter after her. Lesley is her given name. And then Twiggy could have been her nickname as well (which she could choose not to use as she gets older).

- emily on

I agree with Aurora….maybe Twiggy Zilli can have playdates with Peanut Kai!

The model Twiggy (whose real name is Leslie, I believe) was an icon in the sixties and famous for being rail-thin. That’s a lot of pressure for a little girl! Better hope she never struggles with weight/body image issues. I’m all for choosing unique names but I think this particular choice of name should have been thought through a little more carefully.

Olivia, I was going to say the same thing! Thats a lot of pressure for a kid! I am all for unusual names and usually defend parents because it is their child and none of my business and I will continue to do that, even here, but honestly…I think his reasoning behind it sucks…how about accepting his daughter as she grows whether she is as “beautiful as Twiggy” or not?? But, its not my kid and he has his reasons I guess.

- tink1217 on

Yes, because naming your child something will completely adjust their DNA to meet the requirements of that name.

God forbid he name his daughter after a woman known for more than just being skinny.

Perhaps Twiggy is a nickname and that she does have a real name…

But in the likely case it is not…

Hope they have a alternate nick name for her-perhaps go by her middle name if she has one!

I agree that Twiggy is a ‘syle icon’ and who wouldnt want to be as beautiful as her? But as someone who has lived with an eating disorder for most of my life and spent plenty of time in rehab and group therapy with other very sick girls having the name ‘Twiggy’ would have just been horrible. I’m sure I am more sensative to these issues then the average person would be but I don’t think i’m totally unreasonable either.

I dont believe a name would set a disease off in any way but imagine if the child had it or if the child had a close friend with it, or the child was in anyway un comfortable in her skin at any weight? ugh! I love unique names, food, towns, whatever…but body types? OK, just no.

Twiggy Zilli………!

I don’t like it, especially put with the surname, but of course its their choice. I just hope she doesn’t get teased. Congratulations anyway :-)

- Kelly on

Twiggy makes a good name for a pet and a good nickname for a person, but, as a given name, I think it’s ridiculous. Even if she turns out to be skinny.

- Catu on

I think of a tree branch when you say “twiggy!”
