Pete Wentz Talks Nurseries, Baby-Proofing and More

Ashlee_simpson_015_cbbAs wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz‘s speculated due date approaches, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz is getting parenting tips from all sorts of sources. Says Pete,

The best advice my dad has given me was, go with your gut. And he saidyou can’t really have expectations. If I have expectations that he’s[the baby's] going to be a rock star, I’m sure he’ll come out being into sports, andif I have expectations that he’ll be into sports then he’ll be intomath or something.

He continues, "I’m just going into taking it one step at a time, and I’m just excited to meet the baby."Though rumors have swirled about the baby’s sex, Pete, 29, claims, "Contrary to the stories out there, we don’t know the sex of the baby. I’m a person that always likes to be surprised, so I like towait for the surprise."

Regardless of gender, the couple have started preparations for the arrival of their little one. "We’ll baby-proof the house," Pete says, "get the nursery ready." And for a theme? "It’s not a secret, but it’s more of a privatething. I haven’t really figured it out yet, so I don’t want to go outthere and say what it is and then have it not be that."

If all else fails, the rocker does have another source of parental inspiration. He jokes, "I’ve watched Look Who’s Talking and Look Who’s Talking Too."

I’m so excited for them to have this baby! I can’t wait to see the name they pick out and all that stuff. Hopefully everything is going well!

he sure uses ‘he’ a lot when discussing the baby…

I don’t think it means anything that Pete uses ‘he’ when talking about the baby. A family friend of ours was due last Wednesday … she still hasn’t had the baby yet (we’re all getting very impatient! haha) but they don’t know what they’re having and from the start we’ve been referring to it as ‘he’ and ‘him’ whenever we talk about the impending little one. It just seems to roll off the tongue easier than ‘she’ and ‘her’ unless you know for sure that it’s a girl.

I could be wrong about this, but didn’t Pete say in an earlier interview that he would be finding out the sex because it would stink to buy girl stuff for a boy. I’m guessing they do know and are just trying to keep it private. I don’t blame them but at least be consistant in your interviews.

- Nikki on

I think they know too. I remember that interview where he said he wanted to find out so that is kind of strange of him to flip that fast.

He has also mentioned if it was a boy it would be named after himself.

According to there petite tresor registry they are having a boy.

Either way I cant wait to see there little one.

He said:

“Contrary to the stories out there, we don’t know the sex of the baby. I’m a person that always likes to be surprised, so I like to wait for the surprise.”

Maybe he mean that contrary to the stories out there, that have said that they/he want to find out the sex of the baby caus’ it would be a bummer if you buy a lot of pink stuff to a boy, they may NOT want to find out the sex! So he may not have said they want to find out the sex of the baby.

It seems like he tries to be consistent of what he tells the media, so it would be strange for him to say one thing first and then a totally different thing later…

These poor pathetic things are trying to stay significant. They are such nothings. Their career is on the decline real fast. Every one wants to be a super star and pulling tricks to be on top. Talent means nothing any more.

Joe Simpson’s certainly going to have an interestingly dressed, and no doubt creative grandchild, through Ashley & Pete.

If Jessica would’ve had a child, it probably would’ve been decked out in either stereotypical pink frills & lace for a girl or sporty blue for a boy (especially if she married Tony Romo), however with Pete & Ashley as parents, I’m sure their baby is going to have one interesting, rocker inspired nursery! lol!

(I wonder if his clothing line will start producing (Hot Topic-like) baby clothes now too? I wouldn’t be surprised. ;) )

Of course they know the gender – I wish Pete would stop taking us for fools and lying to us. Remember the stuff he came out with when denying the relationship with Ashlee, then the engagement, then the pregnanncy? Truth is you can’t trust a word that comes out of this guys mouth when he speaks to the media. I know he probably has the best of intentions regarding Ashlee and their privacy, but Pete don’t take us for a fool.

He clearly said they DID NOT want a delivery surprize, and they found out the gender a few scans back. The baby is a girl. Him using the “he” thing is probably a bluff as well to throw you off course.

- Ash on

I for one don’t fault Pete for ‘lying’ or trying to throw people off course. He and Ashlee are entitled to their private lives and I don’t think he owes the public any truth or access to any information. Their relationship and the sex of their baby are all private info and I don’t feel entitled to the details thereof. If he’s trying to throw people off and keep SOMETHING in their lives private, good for him. Pete doesn’t owe us anything, and these things are NONE of our business.
