Australian Footballer Luke Hodge Welcomes Cooper Jay

Australian footballer Luke Hodge, 24, and his fiancée Lauren Kirkman welcomed their first child, son Cooper Jay Hodge, on Saturday, July 26th at 5:36 pm. He weighed 8 lbs, 12 oz. The excited new dad said in a statement,

We are both rapt to have a healthy baby boy — Lauren is doing really well as is baby Cooper and I can’t wait to get us all home as a family.

Luke currently plays for the Hawthorn Football Club.

I really like the name Cooper. We considered it inititally but it just didn’t work with our last name.

Awww Cooper is my youngest boy’s name! I love it. He was almost going to be Noah but all of our other kids have C names so I had to make it a C. He was named Cooper in the delivery room and when my husband went out and showed everyone our new baby and told them his name was Cooper everyone was shocked as they expected a Noah….Hahahah Cooper is cuter anyway.
