Soccer Star Kristine Lilly Welcomes Daughter Sidney Marie

It’s another girl for the 1999 US Women’s World Cup Team!  Player Kristine Lilly and her husband, Dave Heavey, welcomed their first child, daughter Sidney Marie Heavey, on Tuesday, July 22nd.  The baby girl, weighing 6 lbs, 13 oz, was born on a special day — mom Kristine’s 37th birthday.

She is the best birthday present I have ever gotten!  She isbeautiful and healthy and doing fine adjusting to life outside my belly.

I have to say my life has been officially taken over by a littletiny baby!  She is amazing and I can’t get enough of her.  It was along process in the hospital but every minute was worth it.  I am nowback home with her; and Dave and I are now enjoying all the littlesounds she makes.  She is a blessing and I get choked up every time Isee her cute little face.

I have to say this is the most amazing thing I have ever done!  Iunderstand now what every mom feels out there and I do want to do itagain!

Sidney is the twelfth baby girl born to a player on the soccer team. She joins Mia Hamm‘s twins Ava Caroline and Grace Isabella, Julie Foudy‘s daughter Isabel Ann, Tiffany Roberts‘ daughter, Joy Fawcett‘s three daughters Katelyn Rose, Carli, and Madilyn Rae, Danielle Fotopoulos‘ daughter Alexia Shea, Carla Overbeck‘s daughter Carson Elizabeth, Christie Rampone‘s daughter Rylie Cate, and Tisha Venturini‘s daughter.

Congrats to Kristine and Dave. I was really surprised to read that out of the twelve babies born to the women on the USA soccer team all have been girls! Makes me wonder if there’s something about the kind of athletics or food they eat that the vaginal and cervical environment would make them more prone to having female babies. If there’s any researchers out there, this would make a really good topic to research, babies born to female team members (i.e., softball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc.) just to see if there’s a pattern.

They haven’t all been girls. Brandi Chastain’s son Jaden, Kate Markgraf’s son Keegan, Carla Overbeck’s son Jackson, and Danielle Fotopouls’s son Vasilios are 4 that I can remember.

I sit corrected, but even so 12 girls is still a lot when compared to 4 boys out of 16 kids.

There is also Tina Ellertson’s 2 girls, Mykenzie and Mya, making 14 girls and 4 boys…WOW!
