Michelle Ray Smith Welcomes Son Jake

Actress Michelle Ray Smith, 33, and her boyfriend Michael Layden welcomed their first child, son Jake, on Tuesday, July 8th. He weighed 8 lbs, 2 oz.  The new mom shared that "he is a sweetie," adding that she is "feeling great — a little sore, but very much in love." 

Michelle will not return to her role as Ava on the daytime soap Guiding Light when her maternity leave is over.  Her last air date is July 28th. For a photo of Jake, check out this week’s issue of Soap Opera Digest.
