Having a Baby Soon? Bra Advice From a New Mom
After you have a baby, every bra you currently own is suddenly no longer valid. Not only does your cup size wildly increase (if you’re like me, you’ll soon be moving beyond those first four letters of the alphabet), but if you’re breastfeeding you’ll need nursing bras for quick and easy access. Though you’ll want to go into a bra store for an official fitting once your baby is a few weeks old, there are two nursing bras that may help from day one of your new life as a mom.
The first is the Medela Comfort. This bra was great for those first couple weeks right after giving birth. There are no back clasps so it’s comfy enough to sleep in — and right after you come home from the hospital (or while you’re still in there even) that’s all you’ll care about. It’s also kinda cute, in a 1940′s retro way.
The second new-nursing mom must-have is a Glamour Mom tank. These things are pretty genius; I wear them as a layer under everything — breezy tops, low-cut dresses. They are much sexier than the standard nursing bras that I fit into these days. Plus they help me feel less exposed when nursing (tummy stays covered). I have them in four colors, including nautical stripe — a summer staple!
