Victoria Beckham says a daughter would be "tremendous fun"

While she’s made no secret of her desire for a daughter, Victoria Beckham acknowledges that "at the end of the day, that’s not something I can [control]." In a new interview with Allure, she’s also quick to point out that life is pretty sweet for her as-is. Between her soccer star husband David Beckham and the couple’s three sons — Brooklyn Joseph, 9, Romeo James, 5 ½ and Cruz David, 3 — Victoria says "we’re fine, the five of us." Still, the 34-year-old Spice Girl hinted at that notion that she’s not done having children.

At some point, I’d love to have a girl, you know -– just for all the clothes I’ve got to hand down. It would be tremendous fun. I’ve got great girlie advice that I can share.

Some of that girlie advice — such as using what you’ve got — has gotten Victoria where she is today. Admitting that she "created a character" at the start of the Spice Girls, the former Posh calls herself "incredibly ordinary," and says that she’s built a career out of playing the cards she’s been dealt.

I’m a normal-looking girl, and I just make the best of what I have. I’mnot out-of-the-ordinary looking at all – I’m incredibly ordinary. [In the Spice Girls,] Ididn’t smile very much; it was quite pouty. I was famous for wearing alittle black Gucci dress. [Except] it wasn’t a little black Guccidress, it was a little black High Street dress. It was incrediblycheap. I just accessorized it well and had the pose that went with it!

Victoria and David were married in 1999.

I bet she’d have a beautiful little girl that she’d dress totally girlie. My four year old is a girl and she is soooooo not a girlie girl.

Just from observing the comments for the last few weeks, I know that innocent comment about wanting a girl after three boys will get scrutinized and taken the wrong way.

Wow! I kinda liked her before, but those statements made me totally love her! Her honesty is so refreshing! I’d love to see her and David have another healthy baby, boy or girl!

Without being controversial, Victoria and David are more than financially able to chose the gender of their baby. Yes, the process is invasive and they may not want to go through that (a round of IVF, embryo screening with PGD for gender and then implantation). But its more than possible, ecspecially now they live in California where there is an abundance of clinics that offer this!

If they wish to go the less invasive route, then there is always Dr. Shettles and the timing method. Conceiving a few days prior to ovulation will increase the chances of a girl, along with a few other issues like PH.

I sense David is a guy with an uneven ratio of X/Y produce, as is often the case with gender matched siblings (more than 2 of the same would suggest this, even though many Drs disgaree than any man ever has anything other than 50/50 – the jury is still out). It may also be that Victorias environment favours male sperm (alkaline environment) so she can do things to alter this in keeping with Shettles.

Anyway, I hope they get the daughter they wish for at one point – that’d be a wondeful addition to cute little family.

Edit to my original post: I didn’t mean CONCEIVING a few days before ovulation (impossible, LOL!) I meant, trying for the baby a few days before your ovulate. On the basis that the female sperm live longer and all the males would have died out by the time you ovulate, leaving the females a better chance of reaching the egg a few days later. Unlike if you try for the baby on the DAY you ovulate, the fast but quick dying male sperm are more likely to get there.

Ash: All I’m going to say is that I completely disagree with the process of choosing a child’s gender.

I think David & Victoria would be just as happy with another boy, if that’s what happens

I know how she feels, I was desperate for a girl and when mine came along, after three boys, she was everything I’d wished for! Of course I love my sons and her equally, but my daughter just fulfills a very specific and important part of my dreams

Incidentally, our third son was conceived five days before ovulation and our daughter was conceived on the day of ovulation so I for one am NOT a believer of Dr Shettles method!

I thought my husband and I could only make boys, but obviously it’s very possible to follow three of one gender with one of the opposite; I hope Victoria and David get their wish.

Pencils, that’s exactly what my husband and I did – adopted our girl. At the time we adopted, our biological sons were 4 and 2 1/2. Our daughter was 4 months old when she “came home”. We then had another son by birth when our daughter was 2 1/2.

IMO, Its not so much that people don’t consider adoption, it is more that it is often EXTREMLEY difficult to adopt…. so that is a big factor for some people.

I agree that adoption is wonderful but so is natural birth. There’s nothing wrong with having biological children if that’s what you’d like.

It’s totally possible for her. Microsort in Laguna Beach does this, with intra uterine insemination (IUI). For her, it would be cheap (less than $5K per round). Not that I haven’t looked into it myself (I’m a mom of three boys, too!)

I love how everyone says ‘oh just adopt’ like its an easy option. I live in Australia and its nearly impossible to adopt over here it takes sooooo long there are so many requirements a whole heap of money needed plus even with all of those facotrs only a handful of people will end up being successful and granted the right to adopt a child from overseas.

So maybe if adoption wasnt so difficult more people would get involved as it is I always worry if I wont be able to have biological children because i really want kids and know it would be unlikely that I would be able to adopt which makes me sad especially when so many children need homes and I would be able to give so much love.

But, ashleigh, we’re not talking about your normal, middle-class couple. We’re talking about David Beckham and POSH SPICE! LOL. I’m sure they have the means necessary to adopt a girl.

I am totally against “choosing” the gender of your child. I think that is so unethical and unnatural. That’s just my opinion.

Anyway, I’d love for those two to have another child and like most of us, we’d hope she was having her little girl!

I didn’t know there were places when you can chose the sex of your baby. I know it is possible but thought it was forbidden except for medical necesities. And it should be forbidden, it’s so unethical.

Personally I would choose the sex of my child, it may not be for you, but to call it unethical or forbidden is YOUR opinion and should be stated as such. I am, at the moment being tested as a carrier for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which is passed onto boys. I would, if the o[tion was available, choose to have only girls as I would rather not knowingly pass on such a devastating illness to my child. I do, however, still desperately want to be a mother, and would go to any means necessary to make that happen.
