Allison, I’m not sure what part of my post insinuated anything you have suggested, but let me assure you that your thoughts on MY thoughts couldn’t be further from the truth. I was COMPLIMENTING Solange, Keisha Castle Hughes and even Jamie Lynn for taking what were UNEXPECTED pregnancies for them and becoming phenomenal mothers. I’m quite aware that people have babies at the time of their own choosing, I’ve gone to bat for younger mothers who are good mothers on this very website many times and will continue to do so. Great moms are great moms at any age, your body, your uterus, your choice. Perhaps because you expected an insult or slight you read one where none existed. Read my post again and you will see that none of what you referenced is there.

Allison, did we miss something? I really don’t see how Grayson Girl’s comments were ignorant to the fact that some women choose to have children young. I can’t speak for her, but my impression was that she was talking about teenage mothers (Keisha Castle Hughes, Jamie Lynn, etc) and how their age doesn’t determine how good at parenting they will be–remarks that sound complimentary towards young moms, not the other way around. I think you were being overly sensitive of GG’s fairly innocuous comments.

Graysons girl…I really detest your comment and I am angry that people are still so ignorant about the fact that some women CHOOSE to have children young. I planned to have a child young and I always knew that I would be a young mother. I love it. There are soooo many positives about being young and having children. Many more imo than having children in your 30′s or 40′s! Bad mothers AND fathers exist in their teens,20′s,30′s,and 40′s! If you would like to stereotype then I would like to say that I have seen more women in their 30′s so focused on their career that it leaves very little time and energy for their children. I am just REALLY sick and tired of hearing about young mothers being the “bad” ones making the worst decision of their lives by having a child. Sorry it just really starts to get to me. Ill stop now…..

I also had my son at 19, and I really do applaud mothers like Solange, as it’s not easy- you get so much stick from people and there is a lot of prejudice about how older mothers are better but the truth it, age does not matter, as long as you are a good mother and meets your child’s needs and be a positive role model, as well as guiding them through life to the best of your ability. I look at my son, and I feel proud of what I have done in raising him so far!

hmm, im no advocate for becoming a teenage mother esp since i had my son at 19 and no how difficult it can actually be but i really love that there are young women out there like solange who show that there are some of us who are capable of being great mothers at such a young age, even if it is only on a surface (meaning that we dont really know what goes on behind closed doors with these celebs but for appearances sake she sets a good example).

Seriously, this little boy is one of the most gorgeous children I have ever set eyes on! They don’t make them much cuter than him! LOL

Looking at Solange and what a great mother she became despite her age when Daniel was born speaks to the possibilities for Jamie Lynn and the likes. Alot of people use age and only age as a deciding factor of inadequate parenting, but so far Keisha Castle Hughes and Solange have gone on to prove that chronological age doesn’t mean much when matched to maturity. I expect Jamie Lynn to join their ranks as young women to be proud of for taking a potentially disasterous situation and making it something beautiful and inspiring.
