There’s a carnival every Independence Day in a town 25 miles from me. They have a lip sync contest and fireworks set to music at the football field in the evening. That’s where we’re going! I have steaks and hot dogs for the grill, potato salad, chips and dip, relishes, and fruit pizza for supper.

Nothing special. It’s not a holiday in Sweden although Bruce Springsteen is playing but I’m sadly not attending. I guess that brings 4th july here a bit.
I’m going to the annual kinkyfest tomorrow at the local metal club. That’s about it.

Please fly your flag if you can. My oldest has a fascination with the Revolutionary war (several battles were fought near our home), so I’m certain we will have a history lesson on our freedoms. Our family will also have a big cookout with friends and then this evening go to the Charlotte Knights game with the huge fireworks skyshow after the game. Happy Independence Day!

I am in Ireland so the 4th of July means nothing. Happy Independence Day to all the American’s on here! Have a great day.

Like Hea, we don’t celebrate the fourth where I live (Ireland) — so nothing special.
Although, my 9 month old is 1/4 American!

We’re celebrating our daughter’s 3rd birthday today! We think the 4th of July is a really fun birthday! Although she isn’t quite fond of the fireworks yet….too bad! That’s what you’re gettin’ every year honey! :)

We are taking our 3 year old and 1 month old to our friends’ lake. They just recently built “paradise” complete with a palm tree hammock, fireplace, grill, indoor shower/plumbing/AC (my favorite) jet skiing, boating and more! It’s quite fun considering we live in Nebraska!

- Amy on

I don’t celebrate it

My husband is on deployment, so I took my 1 year old to a parade this morning and we’ll go see fireworks tonight.

- Megan on

Megan, where do you live? I did the same exact thing and am seeing fireworks tonight.

- Lisa on

Our oldest walked in a parade this morning. It is a huge deal here. We then went and had BBQ at my parents house, as it is my mom’s birthday. We went back to the festival and walked around and had carnival-type food for dinner/dessert. We are going to go and watch fireworks tonight.

Later this weekend we are going to my father-in-law’s house for his birthday. It is a whole big celebration weekend for us.

We had a great barbeque going outside down here in Florida – but unfortunetly a storm came in and we all had to hurry inside to eat! Our gated community is having a big fireworks display over the lake a little later so we’re gonna let our 4 year old son stay up and go down to that in a little bit, thankfully he napped this afternoon as I can see it being a late night!

We are going to a concert in the park then to a local church for a carnival and fireworks. We are going with the grandparents.

Lisa, I live in GA. Hubby is stationed in Kings Bay.

We didn’t do anything since my other half had to work. Hopefully one of these years, we’ll get to do something for the holidays.

We went to a Carnival (German/American) over here in Germany, its every year so it became a tradition. At around 10:45pm the fireworks began and the highlight was when the american flag was dropped from the sky.

This year I took my friends 2 kids along which came to a total of 5 (2 of them being my 11 mos and her 10 mos old)all the kids loved the fireworks, dont know how many times i heard COOL or SOOOOO COOL,lol

It was a great day/night!!
