Joanna Page not taking her fertility for granted

Actressjo_jonf_55056429_max_cbbWelsh actress Joanna Page, 31, is anxious to start a family with husband James Thornton, after receiving some advice from actor Rob Brydon — her co-star on the BBC Three comedy Gavin & Stacey.  Joanna told the Times Online in a new interview that some women "take it so much for granted that [they'll] be able to have children," and that she "used to think" she had "a good ten years to start trying for a baby."  Rob, however, told her to "get on with it, because you never know if things will start going wrong."

Sadly, this is all too true. I never thought it would be so hard for me and I’m young and healthy. Going on a year now of trying! Darn PCOS.

Alice Im in the same boat with you. Young, healthy, baby not coming. We spend whole lifes protecting ourselves from a getting pregnant and once we are ready, it won’t happen. I write in my blog about it. It’s just heartbreaking and everytime with kids-came-so-very-easy someone tells me relax, it will happen, i just want to scream. I relaxed for three years after getting married and it didn’t happen. It’s just heartbreaking and so expensive

It is so nice having a celebrity recognize that getting pregnant in your late 30′s and 40′s may be difficult or even impossible. I was 33 and it took us about a year. The book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler was a godsend. Best of luck with their decision.

I totally agree with her!!! I really think that, as I have commented before on this site, that women think it is their birthright to have children. It is NOT guaranteed. I made it a habit to ask the Lord to allow me to carry a child to term and have a healthy baby. Right now, I am 6 months pregnant and 31. I thank GOD that he allowed me to experience this.

Also, I want to say something else. There are COUNTLESS women that take good care of their bodies (excercise, eating right, etc.) that also think that they will have no problem getting pregnant and carrying a child to term.

Please, ladies, do not take your fertility for granted. Regularly visit your OB/GYN and pray (whatever your faith is). I hope that every woman that desires to have a child gets that blessed opportunity.

Oh man, I’m 31 and dating like I’m 21. This is terrifying.
