Joel Madden says Harlow "melts" him

Richiemadden Telling People that he and girlfriend Nicole Richie "don’t have any plans" to marry, singer Joel Madden says the couple is instead focusing all their efforts on 5 ½-month-old Harlow Winter Kate, their first child together. "Marriage means something different to everyone," Joel noted, adding that simply being together as a family is "what is making us happy right now." Joel admitted that he finds fatherhood "crazy."

Every day [Harlow] does something new. When she reaches for me, it’s awesome! Just watching her grow, it melts me!

Joel, 29, and Nicole, 26, have been dating since 2006.

Maybe Nicole and Joel want to wait a while before they get married but if I were Nicole I would be put off by Joel’s comment. It sort of sounds like he has No intentions of ever marrying her. Maybe it’s just me.

ttcnomore- I don’t think that was what he was implying. A few months go (back in April, I think it was), he was asked which couple he thought would head to the alter first: Benji and Paris or him and Nicole. His response was: “Well, we’re the couple with the baby, so probably us”. Also, when Nicole was still pregnant, she and Joel made it clear that they full intend to get married someday.

At that point, it sounded like they were planning to tie the knot soon after Harlow’s birth, but I’m guessing they simply did not realize how busy they were going to be (after all, neither of them had ever had a child before!)!
