Tori Spelling says Liam loved her pregnant belly

06/10/2008 at 02:45 PM ET

Torideanliam As much as a toddler can, Liam Aaron McDermott is right now — hopefully — celebrating the birth of his new baby sister Stella Doreen, born yesterday.  From the sound of it, however, there’s at least one aspect of mom Tori Spelling’s second pregnancy that Liam will miss: The belly!  Tori’s husband Dean McDermott in a recent video revealed that Liam, who turns 15-months-old later this week, treated Tori’s pregnant belly as "his own private little moonbounce."  Tori, 35, shared that Liam was relatively unaware that a baby sister was on the way.  She said,

He doesn’t understand anything.  He literally just thinks [the belly]‘s a fun jungle gym to crawl on.

Lugging Liam around during the latter stages of her pregnancy was difficult, Tori said, noting that her son is a "heavy little man." She also praised her husband for all the help he provided in caring for their son, remarking that "I don’t know what I would have done without Dean" and "he’s gotten me through this pregnancy."

Is it okay to let you kid climb all over your belly? I’m totally not judging…mostly just wondering because I am pregnant with my second and my 2 year old has tried to sit on my belly a few times and it has HURT (keep in mind she is very petite and only weighs about 23 pounds so she is not a huge 2 year old by any means.)! I can’t imagine letting her climb all over it, I would just worry about it squishing something or hurting me. I guess I’m just wondering if maybe I’m a paranoid mother?

Amy if it hurts and you’re not comfortable then definitely it’s not ok or safe for you. I don’t see anything wrong with a baby climbing over mom’s belly as long as it doesn’t hurt and she’s not worried about the new baby being hurt or squished, but of course, rather be safe then sorry !!

i don’t think liam is sitting on her, just like sprawled or crawling across it.tori & dean r pretty cautious, so i can’t see them letting their little man get away with too much ,esp. if it hurt.when he’s a bit older, they can get him a small exercise/medicine ball or something. he’ll be fine LOL.

I let my kids climb on me, and made them stop if it hurt. There’s always a happy medium to be had.

Tori better not be lugging around Liam while she’s recovering, though. A friend of mine burst her cesarean incision just lifting her 1 1/2 year old out of the bath. Ouch!

It is so nice to hear that Dean helps carry Liam around while she was pregnant. I am sure if he did it through out her pregnancy than he will help her after.

Such a cute story. My daughter seems very interested in big bellies and loves it when I tell her that my belly used to stick way out and she was inside. Curiosity is so natural.

I’m sure that Liam wasn’t using it as a true jungle gym but that that was an exaggeration for a cute story. Which it is!

I know that when I was pregnant with my daughter, my then 2 year old son used to drive cars around on my belly and thought it was funny to drive on the baby.

And now my 2 year old daughter lifts up my shirt every time a baby is nearby or she’s playing with her dolls…something that’s still catching me off guard…especially in public! :)

"It helps that other moms had said that once they had their babies, they forgot they were ever pregnant. So once my focus became the baby and not the pregnancy, it was a very easy decision."
