Muffin Mat: The Perfect Spot to Rest Your Little Muffin

Oh, do you know the Muffin Mat? Well, if you’re the mama of a baby you certainly should! I opened my Muffin Mat ($125) the second it arrived. With a 3-year-old and a new baby I’m always looking for ways to keep both kids happy. The Muffin Mat just might be the secret.  When the novelty of jumping on it wore off for my son, I lay his 4-month-old baby sister on the unfolded mat. The second her little body touched the soft, sage green mat a huge smile appeared on her face and she started to coo. And my son and I started to play with trains. It was perfect!

Muffinmat2Three years ago, my little boy hung out in a folded-open keyboard case spread out on the hardwood floors. Now my new little muffin gets to hang out in style on her cushy Muffin Mat.  The PVC-free Muffin Mat is a round nylon-covered piece of foam that comes with a luxuriously-soft, machine-washable fleece cover in your choice of five colors. It folds in half and has a shoulder strap to carry it from room to room. I love the shoulder strap; It makes it so easy for me to move the mat not only around our house, but also to other homes if we go out.

It’s so hard to explain why this soft little circle for your floor is so wonderful, but I’ll try.  I can kneel on it to play with baby, she can hang out when my arms are otherwise occupied (like with the aforementioned trains!), it’s great for tummy-time, and when she starts sitting up she’ll have a perfect place to land when she inevitably falls. Another little benefit I have discovered — I can spin my daughter around to see the action and I don’t have to lift her up and disturb her.

Everything about the Muffin Mat is ideal. You can definitely tell it was designed by a mom of two! I’ve even caught my son lounging on it while he plays on the floor — a good sign that the mat will have staying power, too. Looks like we’ve come a long way since the days of the keyboard case!

Dads like it too. Cozy time head to head with the little one even while I watch the game.
