Eliza Gran: Your kid will be a star (or just look like one)
The thought of a little black dress for kids doesn’t quite seem right — unless her name is Wednesday Adams, perhaps. But the concept of a go-anywhere frock that’s both stylish and timeless is something a girl of any age can appreciate. Enter Eliza Gran. She’s a mom of three and former illustrator who started her own children’s line that has quickly become beloved by celebs and regular citizens alike.
Apple Martin, 4, and Matilda Ledger, 2 ½, for instance, both dazzled the paparazzi in Eliza Gran’s gorgeous coffee Penelope dress last summer. This season’s collection, for girls from 12-months to 8-years-old, is incredibly stunning. Made from the most exquisite fabrics — the kind of cotton that you can tell is top quality from a mile away — and in the most gorgeous colors and prints, Eliza Gran’s designs are perfect for any occasion. The same dress would be as suitable for a summer picnic as it would be for a summer wedding.
A few favorites? The Daphne ($76) which comes in white or red or a beautiful print combination, is a voile pinafore dress with fluttered sleeves and a fun ricrac trim. It looks like something Grace Kelly would have worn as a girl. The Quincy ($76) is a classic button-front frock that comes in solid red or one of Eliza Gran’s signature ‘Liberty’ prints. This dress will always be in style. Right now I’m picturing my daughter’s granddaughter wearing it to school on a hoverboard.
But the to-die-for winner in Eliza Gran’s current collection (and I advise you grab one before she sells out) is the nymph-like floaty Capuchine ($76; shown at intro of review). The details, from the delicate sleeves to the intricately crocheted hem and neckline, will make you want to save this one for special occasions. But don’t! Dresses this beautiful ought to be shown off and enjoyed as much as possible, even if it’s just for a jaunt with mom to Starbucks.
