Featured Review: Britax Boulevard: Take a seat

BritaxboulevardI love Britax car seats, and I’m not sure I’ll ever use another brand. I recently got the chance to check out the Britax Boulevard cat seat and I am happy to say it’s fabulous! Click here to read my review of the Boulevard’s "little" sister the Britax Diplomat.

My biggest concern with the Boulevard (and even theDiplomat) was that the deep side wings that cushion the child’s headwould block my child’s view and in turn make her cranky. But, myconcerns went out the window when I read what they do: "The Britax Boulevardcar seat features True Side Impact Protection™ with deep side walls andhead support to provide advanced protection in side impact collisions."And I’m even happier to report that my child doesn’t mind them one bit.She simply leans a bit farther forward to see around them!

Does leaning forward defeat the safety purpose of the head rests? Does anyone know? Thanks!

I bought the Boulevard for my son when he was 11 months old. We had tried 3 different carseats before that and he cried hysterically in them. When we bought this, we had it professionally installed and the carseat tech told me HE had just gotten this carseat for his kids. My son has been comfortably happy and safe in this seat for 3 years now. I just bought one for my daughter, who is 3 months old, and she falls asleep each time she rides in it. I will never buy a seat that is not made by Britax. EXCELLENT brand!!

Are they expensive?

I love Britax, it is a product I fully believe in. We own two Marathons ourselves. Recently we took a plane trip and bought a cheap seat to take along, our son was so uncomfortable. Not only are the Britax cute and comfortable, they have wonderful safety ratings. Great product all around.

We got the Boulevard a week ago for my 7 month old – we weren’t sure how she’d handle it so we put it in the family room as a “seat” to see what she thought – she DID NOT WANT OUT! She was so comfy!

Other than it being so big that I can’t see her when I’m driving, once I get over it, I know that she is as safe as I can get her in the car.

Bren- They are a bit pricey but you cannot put a price on the safety of a child.

I own the one that is shown in the picture above and my 15 month old loves it. I call it the captains chair because she site so high up in it which is another thing that I love about it. My husban and I didn’t try any carseats before this because I researched for about a week on what is the best and this seat was the only one that got continious great ratings.

We have this Boulevard for my daughter. $300 and worth every penny! She 26 months and rides rear-facing in this seat. She isn’t missing anything as far as a view goes, inspite of the wings. Just the other day we pulled up next to a bus and she called out the letters. I know she can see just fine in it.

Jeanette ~ Yes, you’re right. If this seat is used forward facing and you have a crash and the child’s head is thrown forward (as you would expect) then the wings won’t protect the head as well as they could (they still may offer some extra protection to the body). That’s another reason why using seats rf as long as you can is safer. In a crash the head is pushed against the restraint keeping the head contained withing the wings (this also applies to seats without side impact wings as the small amount of shell to the side of the head will also offer side impact protection).

I have this exact carseat for my youngest daughter – same fabric and everything – and I LOVE it. My daughter is comfortable in it and has never minded the “wings” on the side of her head.
