What on earth is a british woman doing having a baby shower? They are exclusively american (so far as I know – I apologise if any other countries have them I don’t know about).

There’s no need for ‘sic’ after the word ‘bubbies’. It’s a popular word outside the US. The spelling and grammar in the sentence is 100% correct. The word ‘bubby’ means the same as baby, in a similar way that the word ‘tattie’ means potato or ‘pudding’ means desserts. Linguistically, colloquialisms from different dialects are not mistakes.
