I am so glad others are upset by the donation of a car seat – you should use new every time.

I guess it kind of sucks for the company that sent the product if the celeb never actually used it but at least now they get the exposure of this high profile eBay auction!

Additionally, I’d like to add that although it might be kind of weird, some people may want the item as a collector’s item, similar to people who bid on items signed by celebrities.

I’m surprised that Poppy and Elisabeth Rohm are donating items, since they both just recently had their first children, both items are for older babies or children, and, as far as I know, neither has any stepchildren that could have previously used the items.

I suppose it’s possible, though, that the items are hand-me-downs from a niece or nephew or a friend’s child. I also wouldn’t be surprised if the highchair was a free gift (as we all know, celeb parents get tons of free stuff for their children) that Poppy knows she won’t use (because it’s not her style, she already had one when she was given this one, etc.). I would be surprised if the booster seat was a free gift, though, since it’s something Easton wouldn’t be using for several more years.

you also have to know the seat’s straps have never been submerged in water.

Now, I’m hoping that Elizabeth knows all this and is simply doing a good deed by providing this item (as any of us who have had safe useable items would)

But I would much rather her donate a different item for the auction (which you know will cause seriously large amounts of money spent… probably more than the retail value) and see her donate the carseat to a family in need (shelter for women and their babies, for instance, who are victims of abuse)

..and I wouldn’t trust a celebrity or anyone else with my child’s life.

The general rule of thumb with car seats is that if you don’t trust the person with your child’s life, do not use the car seat.

I think it is great that celebrities are donating things such as a diaper bag and clothing, but I think it is a little odd that a car seat is being donated..especially since it it not safe to hand down car seats. There is no way of knowing whether it has been in an accident or not and that makes it unsafe to “hand down”.
