So you’re heading out for a quick trip to the park with your newly-potty trained toddler. She hasn’t had an accident in a week and you’re both feeling really good about things staying that way. You don’t need to bring a stack of diapers and wipes, nor do you need a cache of bottles and baby food. Just a change of clothes, a sippy and some snacks. Therein lies the problem: You’re packing too much to fit in a diaper clutch, but too little for your standard diaper bag. Ju-Ju-Be has the answer! The company that brought you the PackaBe and the BeSpicy has added a new bag to its arsenal: The BeTween.
We recently tested the BeTween in the ‘Groovy Garden’ pattern (shown at left), and as advertised, its the perfect bag for those outings where you need to bring some things, just not everything.

Ju-Ju-Be designed the BeTween (retailing for $100) based, at least in part, off of feedback given by real moms in the the company’s pink room message board. Those women said they wanted a bigger mommy pocket, two insulated bottle pockets and a separate area just for diapers, so Ju-Ju-Be delivered exactly that — and then some. The mommy pocket has hoop zipper access and gussets to keep your belongings in place, the bottle pockets are insulated with 3M Thinsulate to keep bottles either warm or cold, and the diaper/wipe compartment is top-loading for easy entry. The BeTween, which measures 12"x9"x6", also features an elastic diaper retainer to keep your diapers laying flat and not winding up in a wad at the bottom of the bag.
Speaking of the bag’s bottom, the BeTween employs ‘crumb drains’ to keep your bag neat and tidy. The adjustable messenger strap hands-down ranks as one of the best diaper bag straps I’ve ever used; Stuffed with memory foam and lined on the underside with a grippy textile, this strap stays on your shoulder in just about all conditions. And the BeTween comes with swivel attachment points for Ju-Ju-Be’s BeConnected stroller clips. Most of these features are unique to the BeTween, but the bag also comes with all of Ju-Ju-Be’s standard features like a removable diaper change pad stuffed with memory foam and coated with an anti-microbial treatment, smart magnet closures and waterproof, embossed satin linings.
The Pink Room didn’t only lend its voice when it came to the BeTween’s design, however. The print we tested, groovy garden, was also inspired by one of Ju-Ju-Be’s ‘pink ladies’ who submitted the design in a fabric contest hosted by the company. It’s bright (turquoise, pink and tangerine) and bold (mod flower bursts) design is an attention-getter. If you need something a little more muted, Ju-Ju-Be recently unveiled another new pattern called mint julep, featuring buttercream ivy scrolling through sage green blooms. Both patterns are ideal for spring, but if neither appeals to you, Ju-Ju-Be has nine other fabric options to choose from.
The next time you find yourself lugging around a half-empty diaper bag, or stuffing juice boxes and toddler undies in your purse, remember that you do have a better option in the BeTween. Ju-Ju-Be’s bags are available nationwide; For a list of retailers, click here.
