British Royal family prepares for christening
The British Royal family will gather together at Windsor Castle’s private chapel over the weekend for the baptism of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex’s, youngest child, James Alexander Philip Theo Mountbatten-Windsor.
However, the traditional ceremony will have a new element added to it on Sunday because the 4-month-old will be wearing a brand new replica christening gown for the service. The original white satin, Hointon lace-decorated gown worn by the Queen, her children and previous grandchildren will now be preserved for posterity. It was made in 1841 for the christening of Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter, Princess Victoria.
Edward and Sophie also have daughter Lady Louise Alice Elizabeth Mary, 4, who is pictured at the left when she was a baby.
