Featured Review: Britax Diplomat: Compact, cute and perfectly safe

BritaxdiplomatWhen it came to choosing a car seat for my child I made the choice to go with a Britaxlong ago. Britax carseats come with excellent safety ratings and areextremely easy to install and use. My first Britax seat was a beautifulAshley Floral print Marathonthat made me smile every time I looked at the soft yellow, floralfabric cover! The Marathon fit perfectly in my large SUV and I nevergave it a second thought. But when my husband got a new car, we neededanother carseat. We wanted a more compact carseat, in a stylish printthat wouldn’t take up the whole backseat. We found our answer in the Britax Diplomat!

Matt Damon, Jennie Garth, Britney Spears, Michelle Williams, Jennifer Garner and Brooke Shields have all been spotted using Britax carseats.

Its a nice seat, but I’m disappointed that the CBB reviewed doesn’t point out that the Britax Boulevard is nearly identical, goes up to 65 lbs, which give the seat years of additional use, and is only $40 more.

I agree with Christine. Most children outgrow 40lb seats by height even before they reach 40lbs! This usually happens around their 3rd birthday at which point they aren’t mature enough to sit properly in a booster seat. Larger Britax seats that have higher harness slots last, on average, until children are 5.5-6 years old. My daughter outgrew her Marathon (by height) at 6y4m and now rides in her Britax Parkway booster.

These are great seats, however if you have a smaller car, and place the carseat in the middle you can not see past your kids head…Makes for a slightly dangerous ride..I had to return my Diplomat for this reason because I did not feel comfortable putting my daughter near the window!! Other than that I have used Britax up until this point(I even have a Britax booster seat)

You see shopping for a car seat is more than just finding some thing that fits your child and your life style; you also have to ensure that it fits safely in your car.

I believe the point of the CBB review was to point out that the larger seats like the Marathon and Boulevard don’t fit properly in small cars. The Diplomat is the solution for compact cars.

Christine pointed out that the Blvd. is just a few dollars more ut will last years longer. I don’t agree with that statement. What are the chances you’re going to keep a child wh oweighs 65 lbs in a convertible car seat? By then you’d switch to a booster.

The Diplomat is a smaller version of the Blvd. but not as bulky in the car.
