Harrison Ford grateful to have Liam in his life

Harrisonfordh0r7_cbbSaying that "she’s brought a child back into my home," Harrison Ford expressed gratitude to longtime girlfriend Calista Flockhart for allowing him a part in raising son Liam, 7, whom she adopted one year before the start of their relationship in 2002, in the latest issue of Reader’s Digest.

My youngest, other than Liam, is 17. It’s a wonderful opportunity tobe part of a child’s growing up, which is always an endless springtime. You see the blossoming and the growing and the nurturing and the payoff. Being a parent made me just a bit less self-centered.

Having shared that Calista, 43, is "the best in the world" at mothering, the actor praises her choice of adoption to grow her family.

She’s a mother by choice — she adopted Liambefore we met, as a single parent, which is an awesome responsibilityto take. She’s devoted herself to Liam and has done a really wonderfuljob raising him. I’m happy to now have a part of the job.

Harrison, 65, is also father to Benjamin, 40, Willard, 39, Malcolm, 21, and Georgia, 17, his children from previous marriages.

I like that picture of Harrison with Liam. Its awesome how everything fell into place for Calista and Liam; expecting to raise him as a single parent and then meeting Harrison. Harrison seems like a hard person to get a smile out of but he always seems happy with Liam. They’re all lucky to have each other.

It’s wonderful that he has chosen to be a father figure to Liam. And brava to Calista for adopting!
