maternity pay? is that basically a paid maternity leave?

I think a lot of entertainers and TV presenters are freelance these days?
I suspect that comment has been made because she’s JUST started on Channel 5 and people are probably whispering about her getting pregnant so soon after getting a new ‘job’!
She’ll still qualify for Statutory Maternity Pay anyway, if not from her own personal company then about £110 Maternity Allowance per week, but I think she can probably manage without it…
MB: Yes, most women get Maternity Pay of some kind in the UK, which is paid leave. It can vary from 26 weeks at £110 per week to a full year’s salary.

Thanks Nicola, my third (and last!) baby was born last January so must have just missed the increase!
Never mind, the 26 weeks was way better than the 18 I got with my first baby anyway! And nothing with my second, but hey-ho.
Good luck with being back at work
