Fernando Morientes Sánchez welcomes fourth child

FernandoSpanish soccer player Fernando Morientes Sánchez, 31, is a dad of four after his wife Victoria gave birth to daughter Martina on Monday, March 24th.  Martina was welcomed home by siblings Fernando Jr., 8, Lucia, 6, and Gabriela, 18 months.

Are you sure her name is “Martina Sanchez”? If he’s Spanish, wouldn’t her name be Martina [middle name] Morientes [mother's first surname]? His myspace page just calls her Martina.

Found some more info. His wife is named Maria Victoria López Marín (she’s Victoria López in everyday conversation). So the baby would be Martina [middle name] Morientes López.

Also, his son wouldn’t be a junior because his full name (Fernando Morientes López) is not the same as his father’s. The little boy is nicknamed Fernandito (“little Fernando”), which seems to be the Spanish way of dealing with sons who have the same first name as their fathers.

Well, there’s a law in Spain now that allows parents to choose the order of the surnames. I myself have my mom’s surname before my dad’s…
