Maike Boerdam-Strobel welcomes first child; introducing Luca

Lucamaike1In better late than never news, Belgian singer and actress Maike Boerdam-Strobel, 31, and her husband Michael Strobel, 28, welcomed their first child, son Luca on February 25th. He arrived in Amsterdam, weighing in at 8 lbs, 8 oz and measured 20 inches. Luca was born a day before his due date in the couple’s living room. They were assisted by a midwife as the birth was very quick.

That’s because she’s a belgian :)
She is not famous here either, but she is an actress and very famous in Germany for playing in musicals. I think her husband is German.

Sarah’s note: Ahh, thank you. I’ll change Kaisa’s post.

I think she’s better known in Belgium as she’s on a TV show for kids called Big en Betsy.

The show is sort of infamous on youtube. This is the cartoon version. Check it out and laugh!

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that it was a very pleasant surprise for me to read about a European (non-British I mean) celebrity baby on the CBB! I think it would be very interesting to add news about European celebrity babies as well…

But back on topic: Maike Boerdam is mostly known from musicals, so that’s probably why she’s not that known to many people.

P.S. A couple of weeks ago I read an article about Luca’s birth and there was also a picture of Maike, Michael and Luca! Here’s the link:

Sarah’s note: Thanks! We do try to cover everything, but most of our readers are American, Australian and British so the tips we get tend to be from those areas.

I have heard that homebirth is the norm in Holland and not the exception. My 3rd son is named Luca. It seems to be a more popular name in Europe than here in US.
