Wow, there seem to be some cranky pregnant ladies logging onto this site. If you’re not a fan of Chantal’s and plan to dissect every word she writes as if she is personally writing to you and trying to offend you then stop reading her entries.

Um, height weight and full term does not always mean very healthy baby. My second was VERY big and spent 6 days in the NICU. Nothing life threatening but scary for Mom and Dad none the less. She worries about her babies being healthy as do lots of other expectant Moms. I wish her a healthy pregnancy and birth.

I’ve had friends and family deliver very sick or little babies and I remember well what they went through. Modern medicine has definitely come a long way. Thank God for that.

it seems to me that she’s just saying that in comparison, her second child seemed small.
i can relate~ my kids were 2, and then 3.5 weeks early. my son was 8-4, and my daughter, at 7-10, seemed fragile, after having had such a chunky baby the first time.

I just saw her perform with her husband last night at Mercury Lounge in NYC. She looks amazing. Worrying about our babies is what mothers do. Calm down people.

When I read it, I was confused why she considered 6lbs 10oz scary and considering 7lbs and 6oz not too bad? My sister was a little more than 6 and I was just 7. Perfectly fine. I understand why people are taking offense. She over- exaggerated about both her boys weights when there are people on this board who gave birth to babies that were 2-3lbs! (God Bless them). I would think her doctor would have explained that there really wasn’t that much to worry about when she found out about their weights.

Yes, who could honestly take offense at her being concerned with her baby’s health? I sympathize with those that had babies that were actually preterm or premature, but really, this isn’t a contest for sympathy. She’s just sharing her fears.

my babes were born both at 37 weeks and were both over 9 pounds… think of the girth added by 3 more weeks in the womb!! no thanks. both had an ultrasound at 5 weeks so we knew exact dates too… so they come in all sizes!

I didn’t take her comments as offensive, just a worried mama. Obviously, I don’t think 6 pounds is small at all. But she’s just a normal, worried mama!

I loved her column. Very grounded, down-to-earth, and loving. I love her boys’ names, Rowan and Lucca. Awesome.

My cousin gave birth to both her babies at 29 and 30 weeks and both little girls were itsy-bitsy and stayed in hospital for months… but are fantastic now. With the marvels of modern medicine, babies born early have a much better survival and thriving rates- at least they do here in Australia.

My stepmother gave birth to both of my brothers at 38 weeks and it’s her theory that it just matched her shorter than normal menstrual cycle because both boys were healthy weight and ready to hit the world.
