Wagamama Baby Zabu: Just floor it
I probably shouldn’t broadcast this, but sometimes when I have to get things done in the kitchen, I’ll just place my not-yet-sitting baby on a small area rug I have in there and hand her a toy. She’s always cooing and seems perfectly happy — really — but I do feel a bit guilty about it. Especially since my dates with the vacuum cleaner are few and far between since having her! So I was eager to try out a new product called the Wagamama Baby Zabu.

Created by designer Yuki Mese, it’s a modern version of a Japanese floor cushion called a "Zabuton." "Wagamama,"by the way, is Japanese for "spoiled rotten." With gorgeous, contemporary prints to complement any home’s decor — I got the kayden– the cushion (small: $88, large: $118) is unique in that you can tieup its four corners to turn it into a soft-sided play area or a handybassinet that you can use on its own or fit inside a pack ‘n play.
The past week with my new Zabu has been very liberating.Bailey can now be on her belly or her back (and almost her butt –she’s getting there!) without me worrying that she’s going to inhalemass quantities of dirt. It’s just her and her toys and many, manysmiles; I think she likes that she has her little space. It also rollsup very easily for trips to the park or Grandma’s — or just to thelaundry room if you prefer.
