I definitely think are special factors that go into that. I was always of the assumption that if your water broke you had a certain amount of time before the doctors would go in and do an emergency c-section.

My sister's best friend had her water break on a Thursday night. She called the doctor, but since her contractions hadn't started, she was told to stay home. She went in the next morning for her regular appointment. They checked her fluid levels and saw that while her water had broken, she still had plenty of amniotic fluid to keep her baby safe. It was almost 2 days later before her contractions started. She was in the hospital for another 20 hours before her son was born.

i cant imagine what doctor would let a woman deliver a baby 48 hours or so AFTER the water broke. the baby is healthy so i am assuming that they knew just what they were doing. it just doesnt seem to be something that would be a common thing. anyone else think thats weird? i have had 2 cesereans so what do i know! :o)
