I love how some of you are knocking down celebrity mothers, when this site only caters to the subject of celebrity parents.

I believe I’ve already stated in my post that the ones I have issue with are the ones who claimed to not have nannies but where then seen in public with those nannies. Clearly there’s no point in me continuing this discussion since I’ve stated and restated my point and yet some continue to twist my words and claim I said things that I never said.

I think the point is that you can’t catagorize all celebs into one group. Some use nanny’s, have chef’s, assistants etc and then there are some who don’t!

We can argue all day over who does and who doesn’t but the bottom line is you have to give some of them a fair shot by not assuming that they all do the same things!

The article above gives 3 statements by 3 celebs on what they have learned about being a mom. Nowhere in their statments do they give any regards to it being a challenging tedious can’t handle kind of job. Like any mom one says, “make sure you find time for yourself”(and what parent hasn’t gotten a babysitter or grandparent to stay with their kids for a few hours just to get “things” done or to get out of the house??)That’s where I didn’t get the whole would never take advice from them. It’s not like they’re giving advice on how to hire the right nanny or the perfect chef to cook for you kids! They’re simply stating everyday things that every parent thinks about when they’re with their kids.

celebbabylover: A celebrity saying they don’t have a nanny does not mean they don’t have one. Many celebrities have claimed not to have one and then it became clear they did (either because a picture was taken of the nanny with the kids, or the nanny wrote a book and mentioned the celebrity as happened with Gwyneth Paltrow, or a fellow celebrity mentions that person having a nanny etc.)

And no one said the parents with nannies were totally uninvolved with their kids. I clearly stated in my post that I see nothing wrong with nannies, and I think they can be a great thing, and that it’s only the lack of honesty that bothers me. I was very careful to make that clear in my post and yet there seem to be posters who are acting like I vilified the people who have nannies, which I never did.

CelebBabyLover – Yes, not all celebs have nannies, and you’re right – that doesn’t make them “bad” or “non-involved” parents even if they do….My point was that having housekeepers, personal assistants etc to do all the GRUNT work (house cleaning, errands, cooking etc – most of what keeps moms super busy and running to keep up with the day) that gives celeb moms much much more free time to pursue other things and (hopefully) spend more time with their kids while remaining much less stressed than most “average” moms (who have to do all that stuff themselves). Like I said, “the hard part of being a mom is trying to get everything done in a 24 hour period with little or no help” – nanny or no nanny, celeb moms (and i’m sure there are one or two who don’t, but 99%) have heaps of help with the grunt work.

J.M.- ITA! While a lot of celebs obviously DO have nannies, chefs, personal trainers, etc., not all of them do. For example, Nicole Richie has said that she and Joel do not have a nanny for Harlow. They have family members (mostly Joel’s mom and his twin brother Benji) watch her when they need or want to go out.

Also, although (to my knowledge anyway) neither one of them has said anything one way or the other about having nannies, I get the feeling that Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis don’t have nannies for their kids. They just don’t seem like the type to have nannies.

I also want to point out that just because a lot of celebs have nannies doesn’t mean that they aren’t hands-on. For example, we ALWAYS see Violet Affleck with one or both of her parents, never with a nanny. The Jolie-Pitt kids are also always seen with one or both of their parents.

Anyway, I just wanted to point out that their are some celebs who don’t have nannies, and just because a lot of them do use nannies doesn’t mean that they don’t do most of the childcare themselves.

It explains just why celebrity moms could not possibly GET IT. And I agree with the majority here — celebrity moms should dispense advice on what they DO get . . . like how to pick a chef, personal assistant, brand name, bodyguard, nanny, & still attempt to maintain a sense of normalcy for their child(ren).

Sadie, I have read a few of your posts and it sounds like you worked for a family that did not appreciate the postive contribution that you made to their family. It’s too bad that they did not acknowledge you, a good caregiver is hard to find.
