Around the world, more than 4,000 children die every day from diseases caused by drinking unsafe water. P&G, the parent company of one of our current sponsors, PUR Water filters, is trying to combat that with a new technology they developed in partnership with the CDC that helps transform contaminated water into safe drinking water, dramatically reducing contaminated water-related illnesses.

PUR Purifier of Water is a powdered technology packaged in a 4-gm sachet that works like a dirt magnet, removing dirt, cysts, bacteria, viruses and other contaminants out of unclean water. Only needing a bucket, a stir stick, a cotton cloth, and 20 minutes of patience, PUR completely disinfects and delivers clean, safe drinking water. It is expected that the use of the sachets can reduce diarrhea illness in children up to 50 percent.

Through their Children’s Safe Drinking Water program, P&G has already donated over 900 million liters of clean water around the world. For every P&G brandSAVER coupon redeemed during March and April, P&G will donate one liter of clean and safe filtered drinking water to the developing world
