Aubry family shares their baby joy

Nothing draws an extended family together like the birth of a child, and the little girl born Sunday to Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry is proving no exception.  Gabriel’s older sister Eugenie Aubry tells People that her clan — which includes six other siblings for Gabriel — is planning "a big party" for the proud new parents when they make their way to Montreal.  She adds that her father Gérard, whom Halle and Gabriel visit frequently, is "so happy right now" and,

It’s been a long time since we’ve had a new baby in the family.  It’s very exciting.

Adding to the excitement are efforts by Halle, 41, to learn French — and an apparent pledge by the couple to teach their child the same.  Says Eugenie,

I’m a Quebecer, and it’s great that [Halle] is learning how to speak French. I’m glad that the little one will speak French, too.

The couple have not yet released the name they’ve chosen for their daughter.

i think it’s great their going to teach her french and that Halle will learn to. it’s important to know your heritage. when my baby is born we will teach her italian because my husband is from italy. i can’t wait to see their baby girl:)

Yes this child learning French would be a priority for Gabriel – but it is a good thing for anyone to speak another language or two. Good for Halle for wanting to speak French as well.

I wonder if they’ll name their new daughter a French name? Well. We shall see.

LOL! I’m just thinking if I were in Halle’s situation I’d learn French too. Can you imagine if your child were communicating with someone else and you couldn’t understand what they were saying? If y’all are speaking French, you’d better believe I’m speaking French too!

I am from Montreal and I’m glad their daughter will learn to speak french. Last time Halle was on tv here she couldn’t really speak french, but that was a long time ago and I’m sure she has improved. Good for them!
