Hugh Jackman and family at beach and park in Sydney

Actor Hugh Jackman, 39, and wife Deborra-Lee Furness, 47, spend Saturday at a Sydney beach with their two children Oscar Maximilian, 7 ½, and Ava Eliot, 2 ½. The family then headed to the park, where Ava had her face painted.

Those are some very unflattering sunglasses Deborra-Lee is wearing.

I have never heard Oscar referred to as being adopted, but genetics say he is not the biological child of the two of them. Does Oscar have a different mother, (or father), than his sister?

Sarah’s note: Both children were adopted from the US by Hugh and Deborra-Lee.

Hugh Jackman is great! Their family is so normal :)

Oscar’s little face is so cute and expressive. I can just hear him chatting up his dad with stories. I love kids at his age. :)

Oscar is absolutely gorgeous. He looks so happy and tuned-in. I like seeing this, especially in an adopted child, having been so myself. When I’m feeling particularly down, I can think “the combination that made me was not meant to go together.” But I don’t immediately* think that about Oscar, and I doubt Deborah and Hugh do, either. I hope!

*not that I ever would, but I don’t know him so I can’t for sure make judgements positive or negative.

Ava gets cuter every time i see a pic of her. :D

Oscar was adopted from Iowa, Ava from Texas and they each have a different mother and father. Oscar had a white mom and black dad, Ava is mixed white, Hispanic, and something else.

They specifically chose to adopt mixed raced children because they are the least likely to be adopted. I think this is very noble of them. Great people.
