Alice Temperley expecting first child

British designer Alice Temperley, 32, and her husband Lars von Bennigsen are expecting their first child, she has shared with Vogue. Alice revealed that she is due at the end of September.

"I’ve been begging Lars for years so I am delighted. It makes me feel invigorated."

I sympathise with her comment (although I’d never beg). I laid my baby cards on the table years ago and it’s now up to my husband to decide when he is ready.

Talking about it with my girlfriends I’ve heard some unbelievable suggestions, that I should just get pregnant, “accidentally” stop taking my birth control, to take the decision out of his hands. It’s funny what women will do to get a baby. Sure, my clock is ticking and my ovaries hurt looking at some babies but I respect my husband too much to take away his decision about when he wants to be a dad.

I’ve given him a timeframe to make the decision – I have only so many years of fruitful reproduction left – and he’s started talking about it off his own bat.
