I have identical twin nieces who are in the fourth grade and they were separated for the first time last year and they LOVE IT! They were so excited to get to be in an environment where they were seen as individuals, rather one whole twin unit that they were beside themselves. The separation has done nothing to alter their closeness, in fact my brother swears it has enhanced it. This was all an interesting observation for me as well because I have twins who will be three next month.

Sarah with today’s technology it’s really not a hard process. Its basically just downloading the songs (on a program like limewire if you don’t want to pay) and then putting a CD in. Drag the songs to the program (I’m pretty sure you can use Windows Media Player) and click burn. There are programs such as Roxio, and there are probably some on download.com

As to the covers of the CD’s you need to buy the template stickers from a business depot or Walmart even. You design them on the computer (using her pictures or something she likes) then you print them just like you’d print anything else.

Don’t laugh, but how do you make gift CD’s?? I heard you have to burn the CD of the different songs and photo shop the cover from a Mac, but I have no knowledge of this process. Is this true? My daughter’s 8th b-day is in September and I think this would be an awesome idea vs. the same ole’ gift bags. I have some time to learn…

I love Skeet — he’s such a down-to-earth and yet very gorgeous guy. I love his acting style and his mischievious laugh. He was so upbeat on Regis today. Loved it.

First – I wanted to comment on the gift CD’s…we did that last year for my son and it was a HUGE hit!!!! I agree – the junk gift bags are just a waste.

As for the twins….I have a friend with twins, and starting in third grade she decided to separate them so that they could become their own persons. They still hang out together at recess and after school of course, and are together almost all of the time otherwise, but she felt strongly that at this age, it’s important that they also be seen as their own person by their teachers, their peers, other parents, etc.

I don’t know of too many sets of twins at our school that remain in the same class past 2nd or 3rd grade. Just one that I can think of, and that is because the parents specifically requested they remain together.

This is funny. I came on here to comment about the birthday party goodie bags (having just thrown my own daughter’s 7th birthday party last weekend) to come across talk of separating twins. Isn’t it funny how we each see something different to focus on in an article?

Oh, and in our school district, it is the parents’ choice.

My twins are 6 and are currently in different Kindergarten classes. When you spend every moment of your life with the same person, they can get on your nerves real quick. Anyone who has a sibling knows that no one can get to you the way they can. Imagine that 24/7. I got sick of them fighting over friends, teachers, and classroom jobs. Too much competition without a break.

My identical twin nephews are in different classes. They don’t seem to mind it. The only real problem has been when they have open houses and my sister who is a single mother has to try to run from one class to the other in time to see their teachers and classrooms.

I have identical twin boys and I will insist that they are in the same class. Wouldn’t we all have like to look across the room and see a face that immediately comforts you and puts you at ease. My boys are 20 months and sleep together. I used to have one huge crib I created but made it into 2separate cribs pushed next to eachother so they could have their “own space”. Well, whenever I go in at naptime or during the night I find them in the same crib-arms wrapped around eachother. There is a security there.

I know it can be different with fraternal twins but I can imagine the sense of security having their sibling in class would outweigh other’s issues, you know? (I understand if one child is much more dominant but that is about it).
